Description
The Senior Electrical Engineer for AWS Data Center Power Generation Infrastructure owns the successful delivery of the newest generations of data center energy innovations, and electrical power generation infrastructure technologies from concept to at-scale global implementation.
This role provides a unique opportunity to engage with advanced infrastructure solutions and the exceptional people that develop them.
Key job responsibilities
-Invent, design, and implement engineering solutions, defining technical direction and interface with existing power systems (including controls and automation where necessary).
-Lead and coordinate design development efforts for optimal solutions for Power Generation through equipment specification, scope of works, design and validation, through scaled deployment for fast track projects.
-Drive strategic and tactical benchmarks including scorecards on standard compliance and expected performance targets on global, country and integrator level.
-Drive a culture of continuous improvement and innovation across the Engineering Organizations,
-Evaluate technical and design issues and validate implications from or to standards, safeguarding the Datacenter Basis of Design.
-Host business reviews with senior leadership and present results of above-mentioned standard definitions and benchmarks
-Effectively communicate, present roadmaps, concept designs, program updates to senior leadership on a frequent basis.
-Work closely with partner teams in Engineering, Energy, Capacity Planning, Legal, Environmental, Operations to build impactful products and solutions.
-Documentation, release and management of design guides, standards, specifications and procedures
You will work with a team of highly skilled and highly engaged engineers in a fast-paced and often ambiguous environment. Amazon has a global presence; therefore 20% travel will be necessary. International support will be part of the job, and some international travel will be necessary. An understanding of international electrical design requirements is preferable.

Basic Qualifications
-Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (any discipline) or foreign equivalent or a related field, or 5+ years Amazon experience.
-10+ years of experience in Design/Innovation Engineering, Manufacturing/Process/Industrial Engineering, or related.
-Experience must involve ownership/management of engineering design projects.
-Experience using business/technical software like MS Excel, MS Project, and CAD software
-Possess excellent communication skills, attention to detail, maintain high quality standards.
-Capable of working in a highly fast-paced, ambiguous environment, managing conflicting priorities and deliverables.
Preferred Qualifications
-Master’s degree or higher in electrical engineering.
-10+ years of relevant design experience.
-Direct experience with the construction, operation, or maintenance of generation plants, energy storage assets, and substations.
-Understanding of mechanical equipment and system design.
-Experience with fast track design/build projects and or multiple significant upgrade projects.
-Experience with Hyperscale Distributed Energy Projects
-Experience with large-scale utility plant design and interconnection.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $114,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $212,800/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
