We want you to join our team!Overall Purpose:The Smart Meter Operations Specialist is responsible for identifying, coordinating, and leading special projects that benefit the monitoring or evolution of the meter communication network. This position may also coordinate, modify, create, and train new standard operating procedures as needed within the Smart Meter Operations Center. This position will be a primary point of contact for the Analysts within the group. This position will ensure close communications with the IT AMI Meter Application Team, the Meter Data Analytics group, the IT Data Networks, Customer Service and Operations Business groups. Interaction with other DLC groups may also be required.

Independently analyze and troubleshoot highly complex communication issues within Smart Street Lights, C&I, and Residential metering. Ensure the meter mesh communication to AMI meters through the OpenWay collection engine headend systems and the Smart Street Lights through the SLV Go is functioning at an acceptable performance level. Responsible for correcting communication issues or issuing investigation orders for other groups to resolve in the field.

Coordinate and collaborate with SMOC analysts to analyze and resolve time-sensitive meter communication-related inquiries received from internal departments.

Perform, modify, update, and create new daily Standard Operating Procedures and generate reports that are distributed to the appropriate DLC stakeholders. Perform trending analysis on how the system is performing. Identify and assist in troubleshooting highly complex network communication issues. Create queries as needed to provide data for analysis. Independently modify and run existing SQL queries as necessary to provide data needed to analyze and report on AMI meter communication within MDM, CCB, and MWM.

Train Smart Meter Operations Analysts by acting as the first point of contact and providing assistance when necessary.

Champion the creation, review, and revision of internal processes and procedures when technologies are updated with new releases.

Provide Subject Matter Expertise for data analytics applications like ODMI, OMS and ODMS along with collaborating with various business and IT groups to create requirements for a future-proof system

Lead the development, creation, testing, training, and implementation of new SMOC processes for all future projects/applications like Smart Cities, AMI 2.0, etc.

Maintain strong working relationships and open communication with other departments to help resolve complex issues related to meter reading communication and usage prior to billing.

Education/Experience Requirements:BS in Information Technology, Engineering, Management Information Systems or a related discipline and 7+ years of relevant experience OR a commensurate combination of education and/or experience required.
Skills/Abilities:Excellent communication skills require , both verbal and written, to ensure effective and accurate information sharing. Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills. Analytical ability to ensure efficient and accurate review of reports, system exceptions, issues and/or errors. Ability to complete concurrent projects to ensure timely, efficient and accurate deadlines are met.
Scope:Primary focus is on long term initiatives and SMOC coordination. Typically accountable for managing one's own time and work flow and major projects. Responsibilities are generally tactical in nature and work is typically of high complexity in nature requiring the incumbent to draw on previous knowledge to perform role. Has a very solid foundation to act independently the majority of the time. Considered an expert within the SMOC but can draw on guidance from supervisors/managers when needed but less frequently.
Decision Impact:Receives very little guidance and direction, problems and issues faced are complex. Draws on past experience on a regular basis. Accountable for direct level of reasoning and decision making.
Hybrid WorkPosition follows our hybrid work model, with a minimum of two days working in the office and the remaining days working remotely. Reporting location and frequency may be subject to change based on job role and department needs.
