TheHearst Magazines Enthusiast Group is looking for a senior editor to join the growing reviews team acrossBest Products, Runners World, Bicycling, Popular Mechanics, and Biography.com.The ideal person for this role is obsessed with finding and recommending worthy products, including gifts, and has an interest in improving our guides and product journalism. Gifting isnt easy, so youll need to be comfortable with the unique challenges and considerations gifting entails. You should feel confident packaging and editing stories for both editorial and search success with compelling imagery, attention-grabbing headlines, and clear, authoritative copy. Even better: Youre a pro at diving into data and using reporting tools to inform content strategy.
Our brands are the authorities in a number of key categories including lawn and garden, tools and home improvement, electronics and technology, outdoors and fitness, running and cycling, appliances and smart homes, and parenting. Since you'll have the opportunity to recommend products to over 60 million readers per month, a genuine interest in our coverage areas is a must. We need someone who feels comfortable taking a piece from start to finish, from coming up with the idea, to assigning the story, to editing the story, to setting it live. You should also be skilled at making data-driven decisions and seeking out new opportunities based on content trends and search opportunities.
This role reports directly to the Deputy Editor for Reviews, sits in the Enthusiast Group office in New York, NY, or Easton, PA, and works closely witha variety of departments, including Editorial, Performance Marketing, and Commerce.

What you'll do:
Pitch, assign, and edit reviews stories that respond to a holiday, a trend, or a sale. This involves both assigning in-house to our staff writers and to external freelancers. There will be an opportunity to write as well. Work closely with our editorial teams to top edit content to ensure it fits the brands voice and style while still driving revenue. Lead production of content for all major holidays and occasions (think Christmas, birthdays and anniversaries). Liaise with SEO team to ensure all content is optimized for search and commerce Monitor news cycle to identify content opportunities, whether with new or existing content Track performance of content in order to inform and execute new areas of growth to increase affiliate commerce revenue. Who you are:
A bachelors degree and 5 years experience creating and editing commerce content at a digital-first outlet. A sharp writer and editor with strong editing and optimization skills. Able to understand analytics and translate them into editorial action familiarity with Google Analytics, Looker, Skimlinks, or similar reporting tools is a plus. Able to juggle multiple projects simultaneously and comfortable leading strategy for a team of writers. Well-versed in building strong relationships and explaining complex topics in simple terms. Available to work major shopping holidays. The basesalaryfor this role is between $68, 829 and $82, 000.The actual base pay offered is dependent upon many factors, such as: transferable skills, work experience, business needs and market demands. The base payrangeis subject to change and may be modified in the future.
This is a position covered under the Writers Guild of America, East, Collective Bargaining Agreement.
