Responsibilities
As a Procedures Sr. Clinical Secretary in our busy neurosurgery practice, your primary responsibilities will include:
• Engaging with patients to gather and update demographic and insurance information with empathy and attention to detail.
• Scheduling follow-up appointments, lab and radiology exams or arranging for any external procedures and coordinating with patients to ensure timely and efficient care.
• Verifying insurance and obtaining pre-authorizations to facilitate seamless billing processes.
• Schedules patients for laboratory testing, ancillaries, physician appointments, procedure appointments, and outreach.
• Coordinating and scheduling pre-surgical testing, optimizing the patient journey through the surgical process.
• Reviewing schedules daily for accuracy in scheduling, needed ancillaries and incoming records and makes adjustments as needed. Reviews wait list, manages multiple e-DH worklists and reschedules patients to assure schedules are fully booked and patients’ needs are met.
• Managing multiple in-baskets by monitoring, prioritizing and properly routing the messages.
• Acting as liaison between primary care physicians & specialists outside DH.
• Monitoring referral work queues for internal and external referrals. Processes new referrals according to established procedures and tracks queue status to insure that referrals are completed.
• Providing a broad range of administrative and professional support services in our multi-physician, specialty care practice, contributing to the overall success of the practice.
• Working both independently and as a vital team member, showcasing your ability to multitask, prioritize, and excel in a fast-paced environment.
Qualifications
Associates degree with 1 year of experience working in a fast-paced hospital setting, or the equivalent in education and experience required.
Familiarity with word processing techniques and medical terminology required.
Must be detail oriented and possess the ability to organize, prioritize, and perform multiple tasks simultaneously.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills required.
