About Quality Assurance Virtual Testing (Automation), Mechatronics & Sustainable Packaging

  Description

We are working on the future. If you are seeking an iterative fast-paced environment where you can drive innovation, apply state-of-the-art technologies to solve extreme-scale real world challenges, and provide visible benefit to end-users, this is your opportunity.

Come work on the Amazon Robotics – Mechatronics & Sustainable Packaging (MSP) Team!

We are looking for an outstanding Quality Assurance Manager – Virtual Testing, who will develop virtual platforms to allow solutions to be tested and verified through simulations and emulations with a high degree of fidelity (using most of the real software), at full scale. This person will partner with (1) the Product Teams to drive high quality product delivery, (2) the QA Manual Testing and Requirements Team to synchronize virtual and physical tests, and (3) the internal Customers (Operations, Maintenance, Process, OpsEngineering, etc.) to ensure new Solutions meet their requirements.

The primary role of the MSP team is to drive future innovation across all aspects of Mechatronics and Packaging, across industrial hardware/control machines such as robotic cells, autonomous vehicles, sortation, packing technologies and packaging materials. We drive strategic partnerships with key stakeholders such as Operations, RME, ACES, Supply Chain, Transportation, WW Design, etc. to ensure we deliver robust products that effectively integrate into the Amazon Fulfillment network.

The QA Virtual Testing Leader oversees the development and execution of all virtual system test plans (simulations) to validate system level requirements, meet customer deliverables and ensure integrated system performance across all sub-components to include: hardware automation and controls, software applications and materials compatibility. The Leader develops (or gathers from Product teams) simulation environment to early validate and stress-test end-to-end solutions, hence ensuring new solutions are ready for operation, maintenance, deployment, process- and MHE- (Material Handling Equipment) integration, service and support. The Manager supports the QA Manual Testing team in the validation of virtual models, and uses simulations to quickly test multiple variables through Design-of-Experiment. The Manager develops modeling and simulations capabilities for validation and verification in static and dynamic test environments, while also developing test automation within a Hardware In the Look (HIL) environment, using test executors and automation engines that use real automation software.

A successful candidate will have broad experience and exposure across multiple stake-holders and deep skills in complex systems integration, which include a high degree of ambiguity. They will work successfully across multiple large engineering and operations teams at a strategic level and drive quality across all our Products. This candidate requires strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, collaboration, analytical and abstract thinking, time management and organizational skills.

  Key job responsibilities:

  • Develops, implements, and manages simulations and HIL to virtually validate end-to-end solutions, with real-life software

  • Virtually ensures that products meet required specifications for quality, function, operation, reliability, maintenance, training & learning, deployment, process- and MHE- integration, service and support prior to delivery.

  • Identifies and sets appropriate quality standards and parameters for products.

  • Communicates quality standards and parameters to the product team to include hardware, software, controls and materials development teams.

  • Coordinates simulations and testing processes.

  • Identifies and analyzes issues, bugs, defects, and other problems, particularly when problems recur in multiple products; recommends and facilitates solutions to these issues.

  • Connects with internal customers (Operations, RME, ACES, PE, OpsEng, WWDE, etc.), reviews client, customer, and user feedback.
