Job SummaryUnder general supervision, the Infant Mental Health and Healthy StepsBehavioral Health Consultant provides integrated behavioral health services,enhanced anticipatory guidance, and well child care teaching to families ofchildren aged birth to eight years old through integrated well child visitswith the pediatric provider and provision of evidenced-based resources andsupport. The Infant Mental Health Specialist/Healthy Steps Consultantprovides services as a key member of the primary care team within AmbulatoryCare Services (ACS) and abides by guidelines and expectations specific tothe clinic(s) in which they provide patient care. Services includeevidence-based treatments for infant mental health and early childhood,including screening and preventive interventions, diagnosis and treatment ofpsychiatric disorders, and biopsychosocial support for caregivers and thefamily system. The Infant Mental Health Specialist/Healthy Steps Consultantstrives to create positive customer service experience by committing to thehighest standards set forth by Denver Health and provides as needed: casemanagement and consultation, case coordination to facilitate linkage tocommunity resources, and crisis intervention.
Essential Functions:
Provide high quality clinical services to individuals referred to behavioralhealth, including short-term evidence-based behavioral health interventionsand support services. (10%)Provide services that are appropriate to the age and developmental level ofthe patient. (10%)Consult with providers as part of the interdisciplinary team and generaterecommendations, referrals, and case management as needed. (10%)Conduct brief diagnostic screening of patients using evidence-basedassessments and screening tools. (10%)Provide health behavior change interventions using Motivational Interviewing.(10%)Conduct in-depth diagnostic assessment as needed. (5%)Conduct safety and risk assessment as needed. (5%)Generate documentation of assessment and intervention in the medical record ina timely manner. (5%)Actively participate in regular team meetings and huddles of theinterdisciplinary team at primary care clinic. (5%)Participate in Integrated Behavioral Health Division meetings to maintaincohesion and improve awareness of department functioning. (5%)Participates or provides leadership of department, agency, or communitymeetings as well as internal Denver Health workgroups. (5%)Participate in teaching and didactics as part of the training faculty of theDivision of Psychology for psychology pre-doctoral residents and practicumstudents. (5%)Provide teaching and presentation of relevant topics to the IntegratedBehavioral Health Division staff. (5%)Provide teaching and presentation of relevant topics to the medical residentsand training programs within Denver Health and University of Colorado. (5%)Participate in academic efforts in research and professional writing. (5%)
Education:
Doctorate Degree Required
Work Experience:
1-3 years One year of postdoctoral experience Required
Licenses:
PSY-Licensed Psychologist - State Board of Psychologist Examiners Required andBLS-Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) - AHA - American Heart Association Required
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Advanced knowledge and skills in effective psychological practice in primarycare medical settings, including evidence-based, brief therapymodalities, crisis intervention, and risk assessment.Knowledge of patie t populations' cultural, religious, ethnic, andsocial systems in interactions, care planning, and education.Knowledge of medical terms, abbreviations, diagnoses, treatment, andprognosis.Excellent interpersonal skills and motivation to work as part of a dynamicinterdisciplinary team in a medical setting.Skill in providing care appropriate to the age of the patients served withinthe clinic setting.Skill in establishing a therapeutic alliance and engaging the patient incollaborative goal setting and prioritizing patient needs as part of the careteam in the primary care clinic setting.Ability to participate as a faculty member with the Division of Medicine andprovide teaching and supervision as needed for the psychology internshiptraining program through the Department of Psychiatry.Ability to respond to feedback and incorporate it into practice.Ability to manage the therapeutic relationship including triaging patient tospecialty mental health services and termination.Ability to respond to trauma or...
