Join us in solving problems that support the security of our nation and the world! Detonator Production is looking for a highly customer service and collaboratively focused Production Control Specialist to join their Infrastructure and Planning Office (IPO). This vital team member will be an integral part of supporting programmatic equipment project planning and transition to operations across the Detonator Production division. This role involves many (continuous) short term, high priority projects to be facilitated and managed by the Production Control Specialist in a liaison role.
This position will be filled at either the Production Control Specialist level 2 or level 3, depending on the skills of the selected candidate. Additional job responsibilities (outlined below) will be assigned if the candidate is hired at the higher level.
Production Control Specialist 2: $67,800 - $107,700
Safety and security are a primary responsibility for all Laboratory employees. Maintain required safety and security training, assure safety and security compliance, and make safety and security an integral part of every task, including taking the necessary steps to stop work if continuing the job is unsafe or compromises security.
Support the Project Manager and/or IPT to ensure that project work is executed in a safe, cost-effective, and compliant manner while meeting project performance objectives and goals.
Participate in detailed assignments, approximately 6-8 months, in Engineering, Project Controls, Acquisition Services Management (ASM), Finance and Accounting (F&A), and Construction Management, to build experience and knowledge in the life cycle of a construction project.
Independently research, assemble and analyze information or data related to assigned area
Assist with special assignments and administrative studies to support project work.

Production Control Specialist 3: $81,700 - $133,100
In addition to what was outlined at the lower level, this level requires a more in depth and expert knowledge directly related to construction and project management.What You Need
Minimum Job Requirements:
Familiarity with project management, project controls, and construction activities with the ability to become proficient and assist the Project Manager.
Knowledge of project management tools and techniques relating to construction project activities.
Technical comprehension of engineering, procurement, and construction techniques including their interfaces and interdependencies.
Ability to develop, document, articulate and present project scope, execution plans, budget and overall schedule to Project Manager and IPT.
Ability to independently research, assemble and analyze information or data related to assigned area.
Skill in oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
Skill in applying team building concepts.
Experience: Production Control Specialist 2: Three or more years in construction or engineering related experience required.
Education/Experience: Production Control Specialist 3: Five or more years in construction or engineering related experience required.
Desired Qualifications:
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with a positive attitude, growth mind-set, and strong customer service skills.
Experience with PRID or NAR is desired.
Positive motivation to take part in and collaborate on the stand-up of this new position and function for the IPO team.

Work Schedule: Monday through Thursday 6:30 AM-5:00 PM
Work Location: The work location for this position is onsite and located in Los Alamos, NM. All work locations are at the discretion of management.
Position commitment: Regular appointment employees are required to serve a period of continuous service in their current position in order to be eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory. If an employee has not served the time required, they may only apply for Laboratory jobs with the documented approval of their Division Leader. The position commitment for this position is 1 year.

Clearance: Q (Position will be cleared to this level). This position requires a Q clearance. and obtaining such clearance requires US Citizenship except in extremely rare circumstances. Dependent upon the position, additional authorization to access classified information may be required, which may or may not be available to dual citizens. *Eligibility requirements: To obtain a clearance, an individual must be at least 18 years of age; U.S. citizenship is required except in very limited circumstances. New-Employment Drug Test: The Laboratory requires successful applicants to complete a new-employment drug test and maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing. Although New Mexico and other states have legalized the use of marijuana, use and possession of marijuana remain illegal under federal law. A positive drug test for marijuana will result in termination of employment, even if the use was pre-offer.
Regular position: Term status Laboratory employees applying for regular-status positions are converted to regular status.
