Proposition
The initial scope will principally involve Exploration and Growth (studies, bid rounds, well delivery). Subject to prioritization and workload, additional scope could include supporting Pre-Salt NOV projects and Gato do Mato SOV (DG3 to Execute, Developments, Production, IRM and WRFM). The Petrophysicist will report to the One Subsurface Team (OSS) line in Rio de Janeiro and will work closely together with the Deepwater Petrophysics function and other staff in London, Rio and Houston/New Orleans.

The incumbent will be part of a cross-functional One Subsurface Team (OSS) supporting Exploration & Developments projects.

What is the Role?
As a Petrophysicist you will be expected to:
Adhere to HSSE Goal Zero, including responsibility for the relevant subsurface DEPs.
Play a key role in providing carbonate & clastics petrophysical input to integrated studies and modeling across OSS - integration of log, core, and pressure data - NMR, mineralogy, Formation Testing, PLT, BHI, RCA and SCAL
Support Growth & Exploration projects – single to multi-well PP Evaluations in support of bid rounds, prospect evaluations and regional studies, etc.
Be involved in operated Deepwater well delivery (DW-WDP) – data acquisition design and execution, DEPs preparation, PP evaluation, timely integration into volumetrics/reservoir models, AARs, concise documentation and TDM.
Maintain ever-green regional petrophysical database.
Act as potential contract holder for e.g., rock, fluids and/or data acquisition
Interact with JV partner and regulators, representing Shell Brasil and Petrophysics
Contribute to implementation and dissemination of best practices.
Identify, develop, and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
Work effectively in multidisciplinary natural teams across multiple locations.
Be an active member of the Brazil Petrophysics team, growing the discipline and advocating learner mindset and simplification in everything we do.

The role has some flexibility and can be tailored to an extent, noting the responsibilities will be subject to prioritization, and workload balancing across a small, pooled Petrophysics team.

What We Need from You
Special Challenges:
Must be able to manage interfaces and collaborate effectively in a natural team with London, Houston/New Orleans and Rio – this is essential,
Brazil is a highly volatile and busy business environment, with regularly conflicting goals and priorities. This requires a pragmatic, flexible and resilient candidate who can adapt quickly (if required), while staying focused on the delivery business value and outcomes.
Internal and external influencing, including skill in understanding/defining value from different stakeholder perspectives.
Track record of handling uncertainty and data ambiguity and communicating these to subsurface team.
The candidate will be expected to manage his/her own work and be self-sufficient, including concurrently handling operations and studies.
Experience and Qualifications required:
Must have legal authorization to work in Brazil on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer
Must have a Bachelor’s. Degree. Master’s Degree is an added advantage
Valid CREA is required.
A subsurface professional with a minimum of 5+ years of relevant experience in Petrophysics.
Solid hands-on experience of reservoir characterization including uncertainty handling.
Skilled in Petrophysical Data Acquisition & Management – experience of supporting well operations from PP perspective and good knowledge of drilling practices.
Skilled Technology user and committed to TDM best practices.
The ability to integrate effectively with both multiple disciplines and the broader business is essential.
Strong focus on solving problems and providing effective solutions to the business whilst managing multiple projects.
Track record of stakeholder management, change management and cultural awareness.
Demonstrated team working, networking and interpersonal skills.
Fluent written and spoken Portuguese & English is essential. Well-developed reporting and presentation skills are helpful.
