  Job Description

  The Iowa Veterans Home (IVH) has an exciting new opportunity available forParamedics.

  We are now hiring full-time Paramedics to supplement the care being provided to our residents. The Paramedic (RTS) will administer medications, perform licensed treatments and be the charge person for their assigned area while directly supervising 2-4 nursing staff. Positions available are on evening shift (2pm-10:30pm) and night shift (8:15pm-6:15am) working 1 out of every 3 weekends.

  The Iowa Veterans Home is a long-term care facility located in Marshalltown, Iowa, with the mission of providing exceptional resident-centered care and the highest quality of life to Iowa’s Veterans and spouses.

  Duties of the Paramedic (Resident Treatment Supervisor) include, but are not limited to:

  Direct daily care of the residents by ensuring RTWs are following the prescribed plan of care.

  Provide basic resident care as prescribed.

  Follow prescribed plans of care as outlined by the Registered Nurse.

  Administer medications and perform licensed treatments as prescribed.

  Minimum Qualification Requirements

  Experience equal to two years of full-time work as a nursing or therapeutic assistant in a health care facility or other facility for the intellectually disabled, mentally ill, elderly, physically ill or disabled;

  OR

  an equivalent combination of education and experience substituting one year of post high school education (thirty semester or equivalent hours) with an emphasis in nursing and/or the social or behavioral sciences for one year of experience to a maximum substitute of one year.

  Additional Qualification Requirements

  Designated positions in this job class require applicants to obtain the required Commercial Drivers License and endorsements within a period of time as determined by the appointing authority at the time of hire.
