About the Role
Uber is seeking for a sharp, analytical, and strategic tech operations manager to join our Mexico Compliance & Safety Operations team!
If you're passionate about scaling processes, establishing governance structures (including KPI and data models), orchestrating complex projects with diverse cross-functional teams, and getting into the details to pinpoint risks while identifying and executing operational efficiencies - which may even entail developing compelling business case for automation - then this role is tailor-made for you. The Compliance and Safety team owns, executes, and helps shape the overall strategy that allows us to have the correct local regulation, level playing field, and safety conditions to enable the Mexico Rides team to have a smooth day-to-day operation and reach the business's aggressive growth goals.
What we are looking for
We are looking for a skilled operator with a strong eye for efficiency who understands the inherent relationship between regulatory compliance, safety, and growth. The ideal candidate will not only thrive in ambiguous environments but will also have a strong sense of data management to identify trends and risks, a strong sense of teamwork, and a creative mindset that can help solve the problems at hand.
With fiercely regulated markets like Mexico, you will be working hand in hand with a team of superstars like local and regional Operations, Policy, Legal, Privacy, Customer Support, Product, and Marketplace. Some themes you might handle in this role include OKR and governance definition, state regulation implementations, driver access and permanence requirements, operational cost structure (for Uber and the drivers), and safety feature implementation and impact.
This position reports directly to the Head of Compliance & Safety, who is a critical member of the Mexico Rides Leadership Team reporting to the Country Manager.
What you'll do
Create and assume responsibility for the team's data governance framework, empowering us to decide based on data trends.You will be actively involved in shaping the team's Objectives and Key Results (OKRs) to help set a strategic view for the team.Support the creation of data-based frameworks that allow the team to better assess the impact new regulations will have on our business.Through problem solving and creativity, identify opportunities our current regulatory procedures and requirements have to optimize the team bandwidth and improve the experience for the earners and spenders on the platform.Based on data, identify safety product opportunities that we can later request too the regional teams.You will need to be able to have good planning and organizational skills to be able to prioritize your day-to-day work based on the team's overall strategy.Maintain productive working relationships with immediate team and cross-functional partners across operations, marketing, customer support, product, policy, and legal to scope, test, and implement initiatives.Build strong cases to influence other teams to work on the key priorities of the team
