SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory is currently seeking a highly skilled Material Services Technician to join the Accelerator Directorate Technical Planning Department. In this role, you will play a crucial part in supporting the Accelerator Division and various Laboratory projects by ensuring efficient production and inventory control throughout the manufacturing process. Reporting administratively to the Technical Planning Department Head, you will contribute to the success of SLAC's mission.
Your specific responsibilities include: (but are not limited to):
Execute shipping and receiving activities, meticulously entering transactions into Visual Manufacturing software or other databases.
Track shipping and delivery dates, keeping customers and shops informed.
Inspect and verify items upon receipt, routing them to the appropriate storeroom, customer, or location.
Prepare parts and materials for storeroom incorporation, including division, counting, bagging, and tagging.
Maintain records and ensure proper disposition of procurement paperwork, including certificates for raw materials.
Prepare kits based on drawing bill of materials for manufacturing and installation activities.
Review completed production work order travelers, identifying in-production changes. Scan paperwork and archive electronic versions.
Assist the team in evaluating and improving processes, monitoring ordering frequency for optimal efficiency.
To be successful in this position you will bring:
Minimum High School Diploma with some college courses and one year of experience in a manufacturing warehouse environment.
Minimum one year of experience using Manufacturing Inventory and Receiving software.
Proficient in basic math and able to work independently, following written and verbal instructions.
Knowledge and experience in warehouse and inventory methods and procedures.
Ability to move materials of various sizes and configurations, operating a pallet jack or motorized pallet movers.
Accurate with keen attention to detail.
Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel. Willingness to learn and utilize manufacturing software after basic training.
Valid California state driver’s license.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to work with minimal supervision and collaboratively with technicians, engineers, designers, fabricators, and procurement personnel within and outside the department.

Please note: This position is represented by SEIU Local 2007 and the collective bargaining agreement between the university and SEIU Local 2007 governs the terms and conditions of employment.
The expected pay range for this position is $38.80 (Step 1) - $46.92 (Step 10) per hour. Placement in the range is subject to the applicable Collective Bargaining Unit. SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory/Stanford University provides pay ranges representing its good faith estimate of what the university reasonably expects to pay for a position. The pay offered to a selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal equity, geographic location and external market pay for comparable jobs.
