JOB REQUIREMENTS: Position Description: Every day, in ways both big andsmall, the Medical College of Wisconsin (MCW) is impacting lives for thebetter. MCW ... changemaking for a healthier Wisconsin. In the role ofPostdoctoral Fellowyou will beworking in Cell Biology, Neurobiology andAnatomy. Purpose A Postdoctoral Fellow position is available in theDepartment of Cell Biology, Neurobiology, and Anatomy in the lab of Dr.Brian Lin to study the therapeutic efficacy and underlying mechanisms ofcation channel blockers to treat heart disease, with a focus ondystrophic cardiomyopathy in Duchenne muscular dystrophy. We use avariety of mouse models in vivo and human stem cell models in vitro tostudy treatments for DMD. We apply biophysical measurements ofindividual cardiac muscle cell contraction and ion transients todetermine underlying mechanisms of disease and identify new therapies. We welcome motivated, and organized candidates who can workindependently in a basic research laboratory setting. Ideal candidateswill have a research backgrounds in any combination of the following:cardiac physiology, animal modeling, stem cell engineering, molecularbiology techniques (e.g. qPCR and Western blotting),transcriptomics/proteomics or single cardiomyocyte biophysics. Our labethos is that anyone can learn, and we will provide appropriate trainingto further develop the skillsets of trainees. Primary Functions Measurecontractile and ion transient kinetics of individual cardiac cellsDesign, organize, and run a preclinical trials in mouse models of heartdisease, and detailed tracking of all animals enrolled Design and runpreclinical trials-on-a-chip in human stem cell derived models of heartdisease Detect gene expression and protein expression using traditionalbiomolecular methods (qPCR and Western blotting) Determine signalingpathways using gene set enrichment or Ingenuity pathway analysis oftranscriptomic datasets Proficient in scientific data management andanalysis platforms (e.g. GraphPad Prism) Participate in collaborationsand communication with the principal investigators and fellow scientistsParticipate in regular one-on-one and lab meetings with principalinvestigator and research staff and evaluate/interpret the validity ofdata, develop methodologies, evaluate lab procedures Participate indepartmental meetings and national meetings by presenting researchprogress Knowledge - Skills - Abilities Applicants should have extensiveexperience with common lab techniques such as qPCR, Western blotting, and cell culture. Experience with animal handling, cell and molecularbiophysics are... For full info follow application link.
