Job Description Summary:
This position assists the physician/provider with the examination and treatment of patients and performs routine tasks per scope of practice. Participates in the planning and evaluation of patient care.
Qualifications:
Current Montana Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license required.
Minimum of two (2) years’ experience in similar position within a medical setting (i.e. physician practice or hospital) preferred.
Possess knowledge of professional nursing theory to give and evaluate patient care required. Possess knowledge of basic medical office procedures and medical terminology required.
First Aid and HCP CPR certificates as applicable to assigned area(s).
Possess knowledge of equipment, supplies and instruments used in a medical office.
Ability to adhere to simple, routine clinical laboratory methods, universal blood and body fluid precautions, OSHA rules and regulations, established protocol for storing poisons, narcotics, acids, caustics and flammable items and restrictions imposed by various managed care carriers, various forms inherent to profession and patient confidentiality regulations.
Excellent organizational skills, detail-oriented, a self-starter, possess critical thinking skills and be able to set priorities and function as part of a team as well as independently.
Commitment to working in a team environment and maintaining confidentiality as needed.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills including the ability to communicate effectively with various audiences.
Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to manage sensitive and confidential situations with tact, professionalism, and diplomacy.
Possess and maintain computer skills to include working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and ability to learn other software as needed.
Job Specific Duties:
As applicable to assigned area(s); Performs general nursing duties and specialty procedures; Develops, implements and revises individualized, goal directed nursing care to patients through the use of the nursing process as appropriate for LPN’s in the practice setting.
Performs and documents limited physical, psychosocial and spiritual assessment of assigned patients within in scope of practice and utilizing available sources of information and incorporating the patient’s perception of illness/condition.
Assists provider with examinations and procedures as directed and in accordance with established nursing standards.
Prepares and administers specified medications and injections within scope of practice as ordered by the provider.
Accurately and efficiently transcribes and implements provider orders, treatments, and consistently problem solves issues effecting patient care.
Maintains a thorough knowledge of infection control procedure and strictly adheres to policies and procedures as applicable to assigned area(s).
Cleans and maintains ample supply of sterilized instruments and supplies for procedures. Thoroughly cleans exam rooms as applicable to assigned area(s) procedure and protocol.
Collects, packages, and accurately labels all specimens immediately upon receipt and forwards to designated lab(s) according to established protocols.
Collects telephone screening information, provides standardized instruction, schedules appointments, arranges for hospital admissions, and schedules any testing or procedures as directed and as applicable to assigned area(s)

Logan Health operates 24 hours per day, seven days per week. Schedules are set to accommodate the requirements of the position and the needs of the organization and may be adjusted as needed.
