Job Description:
The Legal Research Intern will support the Insure AI team on conducting legal research around creating a novel insurance policy that protects the insured against discrimination of AI and ML models. For this, you will research and apply case law, compare insurance policies to uncover differences and coverage gaps, unify quantitative metrics with legal definitions and work together closely with data scientists to create a novel insurance product. The position will be based in Palo Alto, USA.
Qualifications :
Law student (LLM or JD) (minimum 2nd year)
Interest in US discrimination laws and procedures
Interest in laws in the areas of employment, healthcare, fair housing and all other areas in which discrimination cases can be brought
Insurance knowledge preferred, Interest in AI and Machine Learning preferred
Skills:
Ability and willingness to transfer knowledge to novel areas
Interest in analyzing and redacting contracts (especially insurance policies)
Excellent time management abilities, autonomous worker, ability to think outside the box and find creative solutions
Good communication skills and ability to work in a team distributed over time zones and geographies
The hourly rate for this position is $40.00/hour - $44.00/hour which will be determined based upon year of schooling completed.
