The Lead Maintenance Specialist in the Schenectady Facilities Operation group will provide technical support to troubleshoot and analyze machine tools in our Steam Turbine & Generator manufacturing plant. They will be expected to make business critical decisions in a timely manner and meet safety, quality, production, and delivery metrics within a particular cell.

Roles and Responsibilities
Analyze Machine Tools failures for indications of assignable causes, identify and recommend corrective actions, and work with group to implement.
Become the technical expert on industrial equipment maintenance and operation for CNC machine tools, robotics, and hydraulic systems for multiple source vendors, controls and processes. Identify and diagnose problems related to the proper operation of equipment mechanically, hydraulically and electrically.
Work closely with the Operations Manager in assigned area, providing him with weekly metrics on performance, schedules on critical repairs, as well as daily updates on critical equipment.
Perform as the lead point of contact with Equipment OEM and parts vendors.
Recommend major rebuilds, and redesigns to Manufacturing Engineering, and perform minor redesigns for the elimination of future breakdowns.
Work closely with Manufacturing Engineering in the review, design, installation and upgrade of machines, prepare Preventative Maintenance schedule, lubrication charts, and determine the necessary spare parts levels.
Lead teams of hourly trade personnel to maintain, troubleshoot, repair and modify industrial machinery.
Direct and train skilled trades in the latest repair techniques and maintenance methods.
Contribute to continuous improvement using Lean and 5S Initiatives.
Develop opportunities for reducing operating expenses and improving capabilities.
Active participation in safety initiatives.
Required Qualifications
High School Diploma/GED.
Strong electrical background with 5 years technical maintenance experience.
Knowledge of common computer tools, software, machine applications, portable electronic devices and technology applications.
Eligibility Requirements
This position is 100% onsite at the GE Schenectady plant.
Must be currently legally authorized to work in the USA without sponsorship now or in the future.
Desired Characteristics
Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an accredited university or college or Associates Degree (AAS) in Technical field or equivalent formal Military Maintenance Training.
10 Years related machine tool maintenance experience in a large manufacturing environment or equivalent military maintenance experience.
Broad understanding of mechanical and electrical aspects of machine tool Numerical Controls, speed variators, PLC’s, Robotics, and Laser alignments.
Experience as a Machine Tool Field Service Representative.
Proven people skills.
Strong oral and written communication skills.
Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems.
Ability to document, plan, market, and execute programs.
The base pay range for this position is 85,000.00 -95,000 . The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s experience, education, and skill set. This position is also eligible for 10% performance bonus/variable incentive compensation/equity.
