  POSITION SUMMARY Under limited supervision, this position maintains and operates Moorhead Public Service s (MPS ) database infrastructure required to facilitate the day to day operations of MPS, including computer operations, technical support, systems analysis, programming, database management, and information systems training. This position will cross-train with MPS Information Technology (IT) Administrator - Server. JOB DUTIES OR ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS The essential functions of the position include, but are not limited to, the following: Manages the day-to-day operations of all MPS databases and Advanced Metering Infrastructure/Meter Data Management system. Participates in the establishment of organization-wide information technology priorities, coordinates and implements systems and programming studies, and prepares cost estimates for new and expanded systems. Consults with management staff to determine information system requirements for establishing boundaries and priorities of data processing and office automation projects, and to discuss system needs. Performs systems analysis on servers and determines if system software or hardware enhancements are needed. Oversees and ensures the backup of computer systems and develops proper system documentation. Provides professional advice to staff and makes presentations to staff. Stays abreast of new trends and innovations in the field of information systems. Coordinates with management staff, support staff, technical personnel, and vendors to troubleshoot problems, as required. Revises computer operating schedule to introduce new program testing and operating runs. Reviews reports of computer and peripheral equipment production, malfunction, and maintenance to ascertain costs and plan operating changes. Responsible for technical projects such as writing equipment specifications or developing computer programs for specified applications. Performs other duties as requested.
