  Summary As an Interdisciplinary, you will be responsible for assisting the Public Buildings Service in establishing program expert policy, guidance and implementation for PBS/GSA national office, regions, stakeholders, and industry positioning. Location of position: PBS, Engineering Division, Office of Architecture and Engineering We are currently filling one vacancy, but additional vacancies may be filled as needed. Responsibilities Serves as program manager as well as design and construction SME applying GSA's national policy on BIM. The incumbent is responsible for applying intensive expertise and diversified knowledge of advanced practices and principle pertaining to VDC throughout the agency. In addition, develops the overall goals, objectives, priorities, and deadlines for PBS oversight for VDC initiatives during the design and construction stages of a project. Develops and prepares Statement of Work (SOW) for a national Indefinite Delivery Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) contract for BIM services. Analyze national BIM development and trends and serve as an agency authority on GSA modifications to new and existing BIM criteria, and SOW for design and construction. Plays a collaborative role in developing responses to requests for guidance from all areas of the PBS organization. Identifies key issues for modifying and enhancing PBS-specific guidance. Develops and maintains a working knowledge of CAD, VDC, and BIM as they serve the design and construction phases, as well as and Spatial Data Management (SDM) issues. Develops and maintains relationships with regional advocates of VDC, program experts and other GSA staff. Maintains organizational relationships with other agency industry partners, vendors, etc. Maintains affiliation with leading VDC research institutions and universities. Ensures needs and interest of PBS are understood and have influence within the business industry, community and among regional customers. Undergo and pass a background investigation (Tier 4 investigation level). Have your identity and work status eligibility verified if you are not a GSA employee. We will use the Department of Homeland Security’s e-Verify system for this. Any discrepancies must be resolved as a condition of continued employment. If you are a new federal employee, your starting salary will likely be set at the Step 1 of the grade for which you are selected. This position is interdisciplinary, which means the duties and responsibilities closely relate to more than one professional occupation. This position may be filled in one of the following occupations: General Engineer or Architect BASIC REQUIREMENTS FOR ENGINEERS: A Degree in professional engineering OR a combination of college-level education, training, and/or technical experience. BASIC REQUIREMENTS FOR ARCHITECTS: A Degree in architecture or related field; OR a combination of college-level education, training, and/or technical experience. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: In addition to the Basic Requirements listed above, you must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 in the Federal service. Specialized experience is defined as: Experience developing Building Information Modeling (BIM) standards, procedures, and libraries for design and construction applications. Experience includes the following: Model Element Authoring Coordinating/Collaborating design reviews. Integration of Design Analysis and Design Modeling Experience developing and managing design workflows, production cycle and priorities.
