Job Description
Join the Water Resources Team at Olsson in the pivotal role of a Lead Engineer. We are pursuing a candidate exuding comprehensive expertise in Hydrologic and Hydraulic Modeling. Seize the opportunity not only to apply but also to enrich engineering principles and practices across various challenging assignments. Primary Responsibilities:
Lead Hydrologic and Hydraulic Modeling and Engineering Projects: As the lead engineer on intricate projects, ensuring high-level technical engineering modeling, design, and execution.
Innovate: Use your expertise to advance the modeling industry with a focus on automation, data creation, data science, and GIS-based technology.
Mentor and Guide: Elevate the team’s technical capacity through insightful mentoring and training on technical design, ensuring growth and development for all members.
We have one current opening and will consider candidates interested in being located out of our Denver, CO, Loveland, CO, or Colorado Springs, CO office locations.

You bring to the team:
Strong communication skills.
Ability to contribute and work well on a team.
Must be a registered professional engineer.
MS or PhD with ten-plus years of intensive H&H modeling expertise.
Large-scale watershed modeling, including probabilistic modeling (stochastic modeling).
FEMA modeling, local watershed modeling, design modeling, and post-disaster modeling (post-fire experience preferred but not required).
GIS experience with modeling, mapping, and the use of automation for model set-up, analysis, and data creation.
FEMA 1D modeling meeting requirements for CLOMR/LOMR and RiskMAP requirements.
Bridge scour analysis and sizing.
2D Models - HEC-RAS 2D, SRH-2D, FLO-2D
Rain-on-grid expertise with knowledge and understanding of model calibration using various methodologies.
Combined surface 2D/underground 1D integrated stormwater modeling.
FEMA base-level engineering experience is preferred but not required.
Hydraulic modeling experience with SWMM (and CUHP if local to Colorado), HEC-HMS, use of WMS for model creation and setup, and PC-SWMM and GIS integrated modeling.
Water quality modeling at local and watershed scales is a plus but not required.

Typical range for this position is $119,000 to $164,000+ and is commensurate with experience relative to the position.
