PositionOverview The Human Molecular Geneticist shall carefully and thoroughlyreview clinical DNA test data and test reports. The Human MolecularGeneticist shall develop a Portfolio of clinical DNA sequencing testsand shall become expert in the clinical features, genetics, and sequencevariant interpretation for all of the disorders and genes within theirPortfolios. Essential Duties Include, but are not limited to, thefollowing: Make certain that the test reports communicated to ourclients are correct, complete, and clear; this responsibility appliesequally to both first and second reviewers. Through scholarly, continualeffort, become expert in the clinical features, genetics and sequencevariant interpretation for each disorder and each gene within thegeneticist\'s Portfolio of tests, will include, but are not limited to:Reading of the published literature; Attending relevant scientific andclinical meetings; Working with the Sequence Interpretation unit tocategorize published and undocumented variants; Participating inresearch and publication of results. Build a Portfolio of clinical DNAtests, which will be focused in one (or a few at most) areas ofmedicine, anatomy, or genetics; Portfolios will mostly include genesequencing tests, but will sometimes include other tests; Portfoliobuilding will involve the following tasks: Writing Test Descriptions;Updating Test Descriptions at least once every two years; Working withthe sales and marketing staff to prepare up-to-date and attractiveadvertising literature, and to interact with clients; Contacting the keyclinicians and researchers in the Portfolio areas; Providing outstandingservice, including low turnaround times, to clients.
