Job Description
Roles and Responsibilities
Responsible for programs, policies and practices that ensure company Health/Welfare benefit plans are in compliance with company and regulatory standards (e.g., ERISA, COBRA, HIPAA, ACA, section 125,, paid sick leave, paid medical and family leave, bonding leave law, FMLA, FMLA like leave law, and all other US leave law).Lead the design and implementation of operational process changes to comply with new and amended law including communication and training.
Monitor compliance with federal, state, and local regulatory requirements. Stay abreast of laws and regulations. Research regulations. Determine gap areas requiring action.
Assist in response to government investigations and inquiries
Participate in educational and training programs focused on elements of the regulatory and compliance mandates
Proactively monitor compliance and IT system risks associated with healthcare and leave regulations: own escalations, mitigation, and initiatives necessary for corrective actions
Prepare compliance filings and submissions to reporting agencies
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college (or a high school diploma / GED with at least 5 years of experience in Human Resources, Operations and/or Service Delivery)
All candidates must have a minimum of 5+ years of experience in Health and Welfare or related work experience, ideally within a multinational organization
Prior professional work experience with demonstrated achievement and leadership in health and welfare plans, and regulatory compliance and/or Operations/Service-oriented environment
Desired Characteristics
5+ years of progressive project management experience with evidence of increasing scope controllership
Proven ability to evaluate quality of information received and questions conflicting data for analysis. Uses multiple internal and external resources outside of own function to help arrive at a decision
Experience with Health and Welfare benefit plan regulatory compliance
Demonstrated experience interfacing with regulatory agencies (e.g., Department of Labor, Centers for Medicare/Medicaid, State DOL’s)
Strong analytical and clear-thinking skills; ability to identify trends and implement process improvements
Comprehensive understanding of and ability to assimilate regulatory information
Demonstrated organizational skills, attention to detail, and accuracy
Ability to present data in a clear, concise, and articulate manner
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
