Job Summary
Aetos Systems, Inc. is looking for a talented and highly creative Education Coordinator to support NASA’s Johnson Space Center in the design, development, and execution of the JSC Student Design Challenges: Micro-gravity Neutral Buoyancy Experiment Design Teams (Micro-g NExT), NASA Spacesuit User Interface Technologies for Students (NASA SUITS), and the Kibo Robot Programming Challenge (Kibo-RPC).
The Micro-gravity Neutral Buoyancy Experiment Design Teams (Micro-g NExT) challenges undergraduate students to design, build, and test a tool or device that addresses an authentic, current space exploration challenge. The overall experience includes hands-on engineering design, test operations, and public outreach.
NASA Spacesuit User Interface Technologies for Students (NASA SUITS) is a design challenge in which college students from across the country help design user interface solutions for future spaceflight needs.
Kibo Robot Programming Challenge (Kibo-RPC) is an educational program in which students solve various problems by programming free-flying robots (Astrobee and Int-Ball) in the International Space Station (ISS).
Responsibilities
Develops and improves mission-related curriculum.
Uses constituent feedback and knowledge of teaching to create a curriculum that is both effective and in line with the latest educational standards and developments.
Evaluates the effectiveness of equipment, supplies, and materials used in the implementation and devises strategies to incorporate state-of-the-art resources to optimize curriculum design, delivery, and effectiveness.
Create, track, and maintain metrics about attendance, reach, and effectiveness of programs.
Support the development of a Management and Execution Plan for each JSC student design challenge encompassing how all milestones and deliverables will be achieved and the staff structure to accomplish the work.
Provide project and logistics coordination and technical expertise to implement each activity and lead and host the culminating events/test weeks, working with Task Monitor/Activity Lead as needed, and utilize lessons learned to improve the activity, processes, and procedures.
Coordinate promotion and recruitment efforts with agency, center, and OSTEM communication offices.
Support the preparation and finalization of challenge handbooks, challenge descriptions, mission descriptions and proposal guidelines that provide teams with requirements for the project year.
Ensure all electronic documents for distribution have gone through all appropriate review processes and are 508 compliant.
Support the registration and acceptance of participants and proposal submissions through NASA STEM Gateway and electronically to facilitate access as needed by NASA OSTEM.
Manage participant submissions in STEM Gateway.
Communicate regularly with university faculty, Student Team Leads, and/or participants to create networking and support through email and legacy social media platforms.
Attend and contribute to Artemis Student Challenge planning meetings.
Coordinate and conduct mentor recruitment, training, and check-in meetings through culminating events to ensure effective student team support and success.
Must be able to report to work on-site a minimum of two times a week.
Experience working with the following software applications:

Collaboration Software (WebEx, Teams, Planner, OneNote, etc.)
Messaging Applications (Pronto, Discord, Slack, etc.)
Familiarity with Learning Management Software (Canvas, Blackboard, etc.)
GitHub Data Entry and Communications
Experience
Educational experience (formal or informal) related to STEM. Knowledge of effective strategies to better engage and influence groups that are historically underrepresented a plus.
Strong project management and coordination skills
Ability to lead and take initiative to complete tasks in a timely manner.
Knowledge of developing and executing STEM challenges with technical focus
Ability to develop and deliver engaging content and experiences for students.
High level communication and writing skills.
Strong relationship management skills: Ability to build/maintain relationships with internal and external organizations.
Knowledge of national education standards and best practices
Ability to work in a team setting.
Ability to coordinate technical reviews and operations with engineering focus.
Education Requirements
Master’s degree in education or a related field.
Minimum of 4 years of experience
