  THE POSITION

  Somerset County is currently in need of a Driver License Examiner Assistant, and the Department of Transportation is actively seeking qualified individuals for this position. As an assistant, your main responsibility will be to oversee and manage the application and knowledge testing procedures for both commercial and non-commercial driver licenses in Pennsylvania. This is a crucial role that ensures the smooth operation of the driver licensing program, and if you are interested in joining this important team, do not hesitate to apply today!

  DESCRIPTION OF WORK

  The role involves direct interaction with customers to verify their identification and ensure the completion of application forms. Additionally, this position is responsible for entering the gathered information into an online driver license application software. You will also be responsible for conducting standardized knowledge tests to assess the applicant's understanding of the Vehicle Code, driving laws, and traffic control devices. As part of the process, a vision screening is conducted using a telebinocular instrument to assess the visual acuity of all applicants. You will enter the test results and customer applications into online software systems using a PC terminal. It is crucial for you to strictly adhere to the customer service policy of the driver and vehicle services. Furthermore, this role is responsible for correctly using and documenting the fee waiver code whenever necessary to process a customer transaction. You must comply with all aspects of the Fee Waiver Guidelines. Finally, you may be required to perform other related duties as assigned.

  Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  Full-time employment, 40-hour work week.

  Work hours are 8:15 AM to 4:45 PM, Tuesday - Saturday, with a 30-minute lunch.

  Overtime and travel are required.

  Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

  QUALIFICATIONS

  Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  One year of experience obtaining, evaluating, and providing information to the public.
