  Position Summary

  This position oversees the extensive logistics necessary with the implementation and management of the educational programs of the School, most notably the MPH Core Curriculum as well as other centrally administered educational programs, coursework, and co-curricular events. This includes Core coursework for the DrPH curriculum, and courses and programs that support accreditation requirements for academic degree programs (e.g., Intro to Public Health requirement for MS and PhD programs). This person manages all MPH Core budgets, including faculty and teaching assistant compensation, Core Advisory Committee, Teaching Assistant recruitment, monitoring, and training development, PUBH course scheduling, including the undergraduate Special Concentration in Public Health, Core-Wide Op-Ed Assignment, and the DrPH Academic Student Forum event series. Additionally, this person frequently interfaces, negotiates, and consults with faculty, teaching assistants, and students regarding expectations, accommodations, assessment logistics, grades, and many other issues that emerge during the MPH Core experience as well as other central requirements of the School.

  In collaboration with the Associate Dean for Educational Programs and Vice Dean for Education this position also has significant responsibility for ensuring that all educational programs, both existing and new, adhere to the Council on Education and Public Health (CEPH), the New York State and Columbia University compliance and accreditation requirements, including new and amended degree initiatives that emerge. This person includes frequent consultation with departmental academic directors and faculty regarding current compliance requirements, as well as the preparation of required documentation of new educational programs for all regulatory oversight entities (e.g., CEPH and New York State), the preparation of annual tracking and reporting requirements. This person will also serve as an integral member of the CEPH Re-accreditation Work Group-an internal team that will lead preparation of the School's self-study document. Lastly, the incumbent is responsible for the review of memoranda of understanding (MOU) of all educational partnerships and affiliations that support critical educational initiatives at the School.

  In this role, this person will report to the Associate Dean of Educational Programs and collaborate closely with the Director of Strategic Analysis and Senior Director of Teaching and Learning. To perform outlined responsibilities, this person will supervise 1 professional staff member, the Coordinator of Academic Programs, to ensure successful implementation of the School's central educational activities and their compliance with national, regional, and university-level accreditation policies and requirements.

  The Director of Educational Programs will also collaborate closely with the MPH Core Curriculum Director and other faculty leads for the MPH Core curriculum and will regularly interact and engage with academic department faculty and staff and all Office of Education offices, including Careers and Professional Practice, Enrollment Management, Student Affairs, and Diversity, Culture, and Inclusion. As needed, the Director of Educational Programs will represent the School in: University educational committees, admissions events, ASPPH, CEPH and other organizations associated with the School's educational mission.

  Responsibilities

  Oversee the implementation and management of the centrally administered educational programs, including MPH Core curriculum and other strategic priorities and accreditation requirements, including DrPH and academic degree programs. This includes planning, organizing, execution and evaluation, student engagement, teaching assistant monitoring, and faculty support; leadership of core operations and supervision of 1 professional staff.Manage CEPH, New York State compliance and accreditation efforts, including the new and amended degree initiativesWork with the Vice Dean for Education, Senior Director of Teaching and Learning, and the Director of Strategic Analysis to ensure compliance with all Columbia University, CUIMC, and Mailman School policies and proceduresTrack and manage reporting requirements for CEPH, New York State, Columbia University, and CUIMCServe as an integral member of School's internal CEPH Re-accreditation Work GroupPrepare and monitor submission of new educational programs, and maintain records such as memoranda of understanding (MOU) of all educational partnerships and affiliationsCollaborate with academic departments and other Office of Education offices, such as Careers and Professional Practice, Enrollment Management, Diversity, Culture, and Inclusion on new educational initiatives and programsInteract, engage with, and represent the School in: University educational committees, admissions events, ASPPH, CEPH and other organizations associated with the School's educational missionAdditional tasks as assignedMinimum Qualifications

  Bachelor's degree and at least 5 years of related experienceProven experience in program and project management in a higher education settingExcellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with students, faculty, staff, and external partnersStrong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectivelyCollaborative and team-oriented approach to working with colleagues and relevant partiesPreferred Qualifications

  Master's degree in Higher Education, Public Health, or a related field5-8 years of related experienceExperience with Columbia University systems, such as Canvas and Qualtrics, is highly desirable.Knowledge of public health disciplines and the unique challenges faced by students in this field
