Minuteman Senior Services, a regional social services agency, seeks a part-time Dining Site Coordinator for our Arlington Heights dining site located at Drake Village in the Hauser Building, 37 Drake Road.
Minuteman Senior Services is an innovative non-profit agency offering seniors, disabled adults, and their caregivers information, assistance and support in Arlington and 15 other surrounding towns. POSITION SUMMARY: The Arlington Heights Dining Site Coordinator is located at Drake Village, in the Hauser Building, 37 Drake Rd. The Site Coordinator manages and provides food service and volunteer management in a dining room setting and is responsible for creating and maintaining a warm and welcoming environment for the seniors who utilize this service as well as managing the Meals on Wheels program. Meals are picked up and delivered by volunteer drivers. This position reports to our Nutrition Programs Director.
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
Create a warm and welcoming dining experience for seniors and adult disabled who are residents of Drake Village.
In collaboration with the Nutrition Services Volunteer Coordinator, work with existing community groups concerned with the interests of the elderly to promote active and healthy aging.
Assist in recruiting, training, and supervising volunteers, employees, and Meals on Wheels Drivers (from among dining participants and the community at large) to ensure an enduring program.
Train and supervise volunteers and/or paid Meals on Wheels Drivers regarding routes (the Dining Coordinator is responsible for ensuring the timely delivery of meals). Responsible for updating route sheets, scheduling volunteer MOW drivers, and monthly calendars.
Implement and maintain food handling practices and procedures for dining and Meals on Wheels that adhere to agency standards and local fire, health, sanitation, and safety codes.
Keep required records and statistics and supervise the counting of cash and check receipts. Make daily deposits of donations in agency bank, mail weekly pink sheet, and deposit receipts to agency on Friday. Mail monthly and N.A.P.I.S. reports to agency by the 10th day of the following month.
Attend staff meetings and appropriate training sessions.
Display a consistently positive, cooperative, self-motivated, courteous, and professional attitude. while working as a team member and pitching in as necessary.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Nutrition Services.
QUALIFICATIONS:
High School graduate or equivalent in work/life experience in community or social group work (paid or volunteer)
Experience with and sensitivity to the needs of the elderly and the adult disabled, including those with mental health issues
Familiarity with Arlington area preferred
Must be able to lift bags/coolers weighing a maximum of 35 lbs
Ability to establish a good working relationship with participants, volunteers, and co-workers and must be detail oriented
