  We are:

  The Department of the Secretary of State, Bureau of Motor Vehicles is seeking candidates for Customer Representative Associate II for the License Information Unit of Driver License Services. The License Information unit is crucial to the license and identification card issuance process. This unit manages the back end functions for all credentials issued, supports the digital licensing process as well as 13 branch offices and 21 mobile locations. The successful candidate will possess exceptional customer service skills and experience with point-of-sale transactions. Work hours are weekdays, Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm.

  In this role you will:

  Provide excellent customer service to the citizens of Maine by assisting with motor vehicle credentials.

  Processes letters of verification and address changes.

  Be part of a team that answers an average over 6000 telephone calls monthly from customer, branch office and mobile units.

  Resolve problem areas such as Problem Driver Pointer System issues or medical and Systematic Alien Verification Entitlement issues.

  Explain laws relating to obtaining driver licenses, and state identification cards.

  Collect fees by processing transactions using point-of-sale system.

  Post, reconcile, and/or update standard documents and financial transactions.

  To be successful, you will need:

  Ability to make intermediate mathematical calculations.

  Ability to verify, code, compute and/or reconcile data on standard documents.

  Ability to read, understand, and explain various law, rules, and regulations.

  Ability to examine legal documents and determine authenticity.

  Ability to effectively resolve problems.

  Ability to determine facts, detects errors and irregularities, and take appropriate action in accordance with established procedures.

  Minimum Qualifications:

  Training, education, or experience in office and administrative support work that demonstrates:

  competency in applying a solid knowledge of the principles and practices of quality customer service to perform complex work in assisting the public with applications, fees, examinations, or social services that have an eligibility or compliance component; and

  the ability to use independent decision-making on the appropriate processes to follow, information to process, and actions to take in accordance with standard procedures.

  All applicants must successfully pass a National Criminal Background check, including fingerprinting.

  Retirement Plan – The State of Maine contributes 13.4% of pay to the Maine Public Employees Retirement System (MainePERS), on behalf of the employee.

  Gym Membership Reimbursement – Improve overall health with regular exercise and receive up to $40 per month to offset this expense.

  Health and Dependent Care Flexible Spending Accounts – Set aside money pre-tax to help pay for out-of-pocket health care expenses and/or daycare expenses.
