Position Summary
The Custodial Services division of Facilities Management is responsible formaintaining the cleanliness of all interior spaces in various Academic,Athletic, Residential, and Administrative settings with multiplechemicals/solutions and equipment (i.e. vacuums, auto scrubbers,sweepers, spot cleaners, etc.) Employees must understand and follow allrules and regulations of the University of Denver and the CollectiveBargaining Agreement. Essential Functions
In addition to following the University of Denver's policies andprocedures, principal responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Properly secure all doors within the assigned areaCleaning restrooms, including toilets, sink, and showers; disinfectthe facilities daily. Restock necessary items (e.g. soap, paper products)Trash removalReplenish disposable products such as soap, paper towels, toilet paper, etc.Dust and wet mopping of hard floorsRemoval of dust from vertical and horizontal surfacesCleaning of chalkboards and whiteboardsVacuum and spot clean carpeted areasCleaning and sanitation of sinks, water fountains, and other fixturestypically found in restrooms and other similar areas.Interior window washingClean appliancesClean and maintains walk-off matsRelocates furniture as requested using appropriate moving devicesClean biohazard waste using the proper PPESweep and remove leaves, snow, and trash from entrances and steps ofbuilding entrancesMaintains the equipment in a clean and working conditionVaried processes are utilized to deep clean carpets and other fabricsurfacesVarious methods are used to refinish hard surface flooringDifferent techniques are utilized to remove graffiti and clean equipment,walls, and other hard surfacesKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Custodians are required long intervals of standing, walking, bending,and repetitive motion of hand-wrist and elbow-shoulder.
Custodians must climb ladders up to 10 feet tall and balance.Operate various handheld, walk behind, and self-propelled equipment andmachineryWorkers must push-pull, carry and lift objects of up to 50 pounds.This job entails working in small dusty areasMust pass a pre-placement physical examPreferred Qualifications
Knowledge of related OSHA and EPA regulations and able to effectivelycommunicate rules to others
A high school diplomaKnowledge of safety protocols such as disposal of chemicals and otherhazardous materialWork experience as custodian/ janitor or a similar roleWorking knowledge of industrial equipment and how to maintain unitsWorking EnvironmentWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposedto wet and/or humid conditions. The employee frequently works in outsideweather conditions and is often exposed to fumes, airborne particles, andtoxic or caustic chemicals. The employee occasionally works in high,precarious places and is occasionally exposed to the risk of electrical shock.The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
Physical Activities
Moderate to strenuous physical effort is required. This job requires longintervals of standing, walking, bending, and repetitive motions of thehand-wrist and elbow-shoulder. One must handle or feel objects, tools, orcontrols with hands and fingers; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.The employee is occasionally required to climb ladders up to 10 feet tall andbalance. The job entails working in small dusty, dirty, enclosed areas.
Workers must also push-pull, carry and lift objects to 50 pounds. Specificvision abilities required by this job include close vision, distancevision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
