Position Summary:
The Commercial Director is a global role based in Hong Kong and will be responsible for driving the development of commercial strategies with key regional players for By Kilian & Frederic Malle for the APAC region. This role will support joint business planning and winning partnerships with distributors and affiliates for APAC, ensuring their implementation and supporting distributors and affiliates (Korea and Australia) in implantation of new commercial strategies and joint business plans. This role will lead and manage the global Commercial Brand Team based in Hong Kong with 2 direct reports (Sales & Marketing Manager and Account Executive).
Key Roles & Responsibilities:
Drives development of commercial strategies with key regional players, align with each brand commercial priorities
• Collects and utilizes Consumer Research, Insights, Data Analysis, Competitor Intelligence, Digital, Technology, Category Management resources and skills to support our commercial Strategies.
• Develops vision and roadmap for Business Development, share and align with global and Regional Brands leads and global Digital Commerce lead.
• Supports and ensures implementation of special projects, in accordance to Brands strategies (e.g., exclusive deals, Minis, category approaches…).
• Advises global Brands VP/General Managers based in Paris of any possible risks to the business, together with proposed corrective action, as well as potential opportunities to enhance the business.
• Offers business updates to affiliates Brand VP/General Managers at least twice a year and aligns on commercial strategies
Supports joint business planning and winning partnerships with distributors and affiliates and ensuring their implementation
• Prepares and manages the set-up / renewal of APAC distributors contracts and Joint Business Plans.
• Coordinates across markets and Brands to ensure agreed Joint Business Plan conditions are met (on both sides), works with distributors on concrete resolution actions, coordinating across all relevant ELC stakeholders (global, affiliates, supply chain, digital commerce etc.).
• Drives preparation and facilitation of quarterly business reviews, and top to top meetings.
• Communicates regularly with global Brands leads and Digital Commerce lead, ensuring Quarterly Update Reports are truly reflective of the business.
• Ensures and supports professional sales and marketing presentations reflective of business strategies are conducted to global HQ at Paris, participates in or leads these presentations as appropriate.
Support distributors and affiliates in implantation of new commercial strategies
• Ensures Strategic directions are well understood and reflected in APAC commercial strategies, and benefits total APAC ELC P&L.
Lead sustainability retailer partnerships across the region
• Define and implement Joint Sustainability roadmap with key distributors, support local Sustainability discussions (including distributors' inquiries) and ensure fair representation of ELC Brands in retailers' programs through distributor relationship
• Provide feedbacks to Paris HQ on retailers'/distributors’ Sustainability strategies to adjust R&D & Brand plans.
Qualifications
Skills & Requirements:
• Minimum Education level: University Degree, preferably in Marketing, Commercial, Business or related field.
• Minimum 7 – 10 years of relevant experience.
• Fluent in English with excellent communications skills written and oral
• Demonstrates ability to operate with an entrepreneurship mindset, to be resourceful, and to challenge the status quo.
• Able to create winning partnerships with distributors and affiliates, have a strong experience in managing clients/distributors.
• Demonstrates ability to create sustainable business models, commercial strategies and joint Business Plans to achieve profitable growth and constructive relationships with distributors and affiliates.
• Demonstrates ability to operate with an entrepreneurship mindset, to be resourceful, and to challenge the status quo.
• Able to create winning partnerships with distributors and affiliates, have a strong experience in managing clients/distributors.
• Builds collaborative relationships and works cross functionally (with global HQ, affiliates sales leads, global/regional Digital Commerce, global demand planning and global supply chain) and cross different levels (global, affiliates, external stakeholders). Focus on execution excellence and follow-through.
• Able to work in fast-paced, international environment, strong interpersonal and communication skills, demonstrate success in leading multicultural team.
• Strong in both sales, analytical and marketing skills.
• Commercial and/or retail experience is a must.
• Ideally have some experience in ultra luxury, as our codes might be very different from classical beauty industry recipes.
• Ideally, an astute strategic leader who has operated across multiple geographies and may have lived and worked across more than one country, with a truly international mind-set.
• Exceptional leadership skills in terms of managing cross borders complex projects, organizational mind-set and dealing with commercial multi-channel B2C complex organizations.
• Evidence of influencing senior commercial teams and business development leaders, with a track record of building new ideas / new strategic roadmaps for go to market strategic solutions.
• Experience in a changing environment, demonstrable ability to embrace change and be energized by it.
• A track record of success in participating in taking best practices from a global structure and applying it to the local/regional markets.
