  Description

  Benefits Operations Specialist

  Location: Indianapolis, IN. This position will work a hybrid model (remote and office). The Ideal candidate will live within 50 miles of one of our Elevance Health PulsePoint locations.

  The Benefits Operations Specialist will be responsible for providing analytical and administrative support for the administration of all benefits and retirement programs, which include but are not limited to medical, dental, vision, flexible spending account, health savings account, life insurance, short- and long-term disability, deferred compensation and 401(k) plans.

  How you will make an impact:

  Analyzes data and statistics for trends and patterns with current benefit administration policies and procedures to ensure accuracy and compliance.

  Prepares reports of data results, presenting and explaining findings.

  Based on metrics and analysis, makes recommendations for policies and activities to improve existing procedures.

  Facilitates implementation of new benefits plans and programs.

  Ensures compliance with data privacy regulations and best practices.

  Provides customer service support to internal and external customers. Develops communication tools to enhance understanding of the company's benefits package.

  Audits the accuracy and performance of functions performed by benefits staff.

  Creates and maintains administrative procedures for assigned benefits processes.

  Works closely with the HR Information Technology Team to ensure accuracy of HRIS system and transition of this information to vendors who administer all benefit programs.

  Performs other duties as assigned.

  Minimum Requirements:

  Requires a BA degree in HR and minimum 2 years of related benefits experience; or any combination of education and experience, which would provide an equivalent background.

  Preferred Skills, Capabilities, and Experiences:

  5 years of related experience strongly preferred.

  Healthcare industry experience preferred.

  Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

  Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  Knowledge of all pertinent federal and state regulations, filing and compliance requirements, both adopted and pending, affecting employee benefits programs, including the ACA, ERISA, COBRA, FMLA, ADA, Section 125, Medicare, and Social Security and DOL requirements.

  Proven ability to work effectively in a team environment with associates.

  Computer proficiency and technical aptitude with the ability to use Microsoft products, with a strong emphasis on Excel; experience with HRIS and benefits databases.

  Proficient with or the ability to quickly learn Workday.

  Effective planning and priority setting.

  Ability to manage several complex projects simultaneously while working under pressure to meet deadlines.

  Elevance Health operates in a Hybrid Workforce Strategy. Candidates must reside within 50 miles or 1-hour commute each way of a relevant Elevance Health location.
