DescriptionASSISTANT PROFESSOR - DISABILITY STUDIESCENTER FOR EXCELLENCE IN DISABILITIESWVU HEALTH SCIENCES CENTERThe School of Medicine Professional Programs and the Department of Disability Studies is seeking candidates for an Assistant Professor position. The successful candidate will work within the West Virginia University Center for Excellence in Disabilities (WVU CED) has provided evidence-based services, training, innovative research, and the latest national and international information to individuals with disabilities, their families and providers, and our West Virginian communities for more than 45 years. These services are provided by a team of experts representing all abilities, experiences, and backgrounds located throughout the state.Currently, the WVU CED is seeking a full-time, non-tenure track, (12-month) faculty member to contribute to a well-established program of excellence in teaching, service, and research. This position is posted at the Assistant Professor level. The successful candidate will contribute to the center research mission.The WVU CED offers services through eight (8) programs, four (4) clinics, and several additional initiatives designed for individuals with disabilities, their families, and providers who serve those populations. These efforts are interdisciplinary by nature including, speech pathology, occupational therapy, social work, psychology, and assistive technology support. The successful candidate will coordinate data capture, coordination, analyses, and reporting activities across the CED. Additionally, this individual will coordinate professional development focused on research activities including effective quality assurance steps, evidence-based decision making, and use-inspired research approaches.
QualificationsMinimum Qualifications:* Post-professional doctoral degree awarded by an institution accredited by the United States Department of Education* At least one year of self-directed research programming development, implementation, and evaluation* At least one year of mentorship and/or research-based teaching to variety of learner groupsAll qualifications must be met by the time of appointment. In addition to the required qualifications listed above, candidates with the following qualifications are strongly encouraged to apply.Responsibilities:Scholarship in the faculty member's area of expertise, supportive of the WVU CED's vision and mission is required. In addition, service to the institution and profession is expected.West Virginia University is a land-grant Carnegie-designated Doctoral Research/Extensive Institution, with approximately 32,500 students including 27,000 undergraduates and 5,500 graduate/professional students. The WVU Health Sciences Center includes the Schools of Pharmacy, Medicine, Dentistry, Public Health, and Nursing. The WVU CED has offices in Morgantown and Big Chimney, WV. This position will be located in the Morgantown office. Morgantown is within easy traveling distance of Washington DC to the east, Pittsburgh, PA, to the north, and Cleveland and Columbus, OH to the northeast.
