JOB SUMMARY Under the supervision of the Director of Enterprise Application Services, the Application Analyst plans, implements, upgrades, maintains, and supports internally created and externally purchased software applications serving the organizations. Performs analysis, development, coding, testing, and documentation of computer systems and purchased integrated applications on multiple platforms for academic and business purposes, following systems development and project management procedures. The analyst provides technical support, troubleshooting, and problem resolution for staff on computer applications, and develops integrations to external systems. The software applications include enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems and related software for the Registrar's Office, Student Services, Academic Programs, and Financial and Administrative Services. Incumbents are expected to maintain expertise in the College’s major systems and demonstrate the ability to install, test, customize, and maintain standardized applications. The position requires the capability to consult with users from multiple functions and for original, multi-faceted, multiple-platform applications, lead projects involving multiple departments/committees, and work independently on multiple platforms. Consults with staff and coordinates projects for the design and modification of applications. Values and promotes the mission and vision of the college. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: • Performs administration of the enterprise resource planning (ERP) system and other applications. Required duties include system configuration, installation of software upgrades, data refresh clones of supported environments, debugging/testing all implementations/upgrades, provisioning/maintaining end-user accounts, and security roles. • Responsible for researching and resolving the day-to-day operating issues affecting processing services. • Provides technical advice and support to end users, including troubleshooting issues, creating data extracts, reports, data analysis, and business intelligence dashboards • Performs systems analysis and design work for functional end users • Develop expertise in business processes and ERP content areas utilized by campus functional areas and provide users with liaison and technical support for related applications. • Performs data extractions and develops integrations to other systems as required. • Works with third-party vendors to implement and maintain custom database integrations • Performs data analysis and develops exception reporting to address data discrepancies, identify data clean-up initiatives, improve system performance, and maintain data integrity between interfacing systems. • Supports the Learning Management System (LMS) and the integration with the intelligent Learning Platform (ILP) of the ERP System • Leverages applications toolset to create, implement, and maintain new/existing web-form designs and workflows. • Assists with administration of the reporting platform, including user account provisioning/removal, report folder structure, report/data security, and report usage monitoring. • Coordinates and leads projects integrating internal and external software applications with the College's enterprise system. • Documents workflow using organization and data flow charts and other related materials and produces application design specifications and documentation on inputs, outputs, and data structures. • Identifies and documents business processes and workflow that contribute to enhanced information flow by interviewing users, generating process documentation, and proposing process solutions. Identifies information and software to support processes. • Assists with maintaining and monitoring database systems performance by creating, debugging, and testing various database types, including SQL Server. • Prioritizes SQL requests from functional users; interprets requirements; writes SQL code for queries and reports; presents results to the requester for approval; modifies existing reports and queries. • Ensure applications follow federal and state laws, regulations, and college policies/procedures. • Disseminate best practices, create technical documentation, and provide training to staff members on current and new applications. • Serves on College committees and/or external committees as directed by supervisor and/or Chief Information Officer. • Other related duties as assigned KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: • Server hardware, software, and enterprise operating systems like Microsoft Windows server. • Database structure (SQL Server, Analysis Services, MySQL) • Relational database concepts, tools, and techniques, including the use of Structured Query Language (SQL) and Open Database Connectivity (ODBC) • ETL processes such as SQL Server Integration Services • SQL Server Management Studio and related data tools such as SQL Server Analysis Services, MS Reporting Services, and Excel Services • Principals and techniques of computer programming, basic online programming and programming documentation • Various computer programming languages • Operating procedures of computer systems and related equipment • Principles and practices of database management systems • Principles and techniques of system analysis and design • Principles and techniques of business process analysis ABILITY TO: • Analyze, design, program, install, and maintain computer systems • Identify, evaluate, and solve program problems • Operate a variety of computer software applications and peripheral equipment • Read, interpret, and apply complex technical publications, manuals, and other documents • Prepare clear and concise computerized reports • Ability to write ad-hoc SQL queries against a range of relational databases. • Report writing skills using a variety of technologies and software programs. • Strong desktop automation skills, including effective use of e-mail, word processors, spreadsheets, and the ability to use tools in conjunction with databases. • Time management skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks, communicate project status, and provide leadership and direction for assigned initiatives. • The capability to perform in a dynamic and team-oriented environment is essential. • Problem-solving and analytical skills are critical to be successful in this job. • Excellent documentation, organizational, and communication skills.
