Job Description Summary
In Advanced Systems and Preliminary Design (ASPD), you will work within the Engineering Organization to help define and launch GE Aerospace's next generation products that will move the industry toward a more sustainable future. Greater focus is being placed on the operations function in this section. In this role, you will work with the lead team to define a LEAN-based operational cadence and set of metrics, including but not limited to: schedules, budgets, and tollgate processes. Once these are defined you will be responsible for institutionalizing this new cadence and metrics to drive a step change in operational efficiency across the ASPD section and its interfacing organizations. Strong project management, change management, influencing skills, and the ability to work effectively in cross-functional and cross-organizational teams is required. This role requires initiative, with high levels of operational judgment and independent decision making.
Job Description
Actively engage collaboratively with the lead team to develop an efficient operational rhythm for the ASPD section.Responsible for implementing new operational cadence, utilizing change management and influencing skills to drive adoption across section and section customers. Put systems in place to ensure cadence endures over time.With the lead team, work together to develop Weekly Operating Rhythm (WOR) and Monthly Operating Rhythm (MOR) metrics and continued management with coordination from multiple internal and external customer inputs.Responsible for developing and managing ASPD section metrics, many of which will be cross-functional and/or cross-organizational, including creation of more effective process tracking. Manage schedule, budget, and tollgate process for ASPD team. Monitor and communicate project status, business issues and significant developments as appropriate. Manage budgets - through interfacing with contractors, suppliers, customers and internal functions - align budgets and resource allocation.Responsible for headcount and various other data collections that are used for ultimate decision making within the ASPD team. Use judgment to make decisions or solve moderately complex tasks or problems in areas of operational/project management, manufacturing, technology, or engineering. Take new perspective on existing solutions. Coach, drive and lead LEAN behaviors, principles, and tools across an operational or functional area. Drive cultural transformation resulting in step-change in operational business metrics for ASPD section.Represent ASPD in front of both internal and external customers requiring strong communication, presentation, and interface skills to ensure accurate reception of messaging and status.Act as a resource for colleagues with less experience. May lead projects with moderate risks and resource requirements. Explains difficult or sensitive information working to build consensus. Influencing / CAP skills required to influence others on topics within field and program scope.Develop specialized knowledge in their discipline. Serves as best practice/quality resource. Have awareness of latest technical developments in own area. Contribute towards strategy and policy development and ensure delivery within area of responsibility.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited university or collegeMinimum of 5 years' experience in engineering operations
