Cenikor is a non-profit organization and one of the largest substance use treatment centers in the nation. We are currently seeking a Full-time Prevention Specialist for our prevention program. Prevention Services will be held in and around the counties of Hays, Caldwell, Travis and Williamson. SCHEDULE: Monday - Friday 8am - 5pm

JOB SUMMARY: The Prevention Specialist provides direct services to youth and adults, groups, individuals, families, and community partners. Services include group and classroom facilitation of prevention use and misuse information, health and wellness topics, classroom presentations, positive activities, problem identification and referral, and community mobilization efforts. Assist in evaluation of program effectiveness to meet defined Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) objectives and quarterly and annual goals.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Direct Services
Traveling to schools in the San Marcos and Austin area. Mileage is reimbursed.
Provide substance use and misuse educational programs to youth grades 1-12 in school and community settings.
Screen youth for curriculum education groups, and identify needs for referrals to outside agencies.
Provide tobacco, alcohol and substance use awareness presentations for youth and adults through.
National or State Campaigns-Red Ribbon Week, National Drug Facts Week and other similar events.
Participate in program evaluation on an ongoing basis.
Provide positive activities to youth and adults on health and wellness topics.
Participate in community mobilization efforts through local health fairs, schools and at other events sponsored by local partners.
Serve as a Cenikor representative to assigned schools and community partners.
Establish and maintain positive professional relationships with schools and community partners.
Administration
Document and maintain program files according to federal, state, and Cenikor guidelines.
Report on a monthly and quarterly basis HHSC program measures and curriculum outcomes for attainment of program goals.
Attend and participate in Team meetings and supervision meetings with Prevention Manager.

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Excellent oral communication skills to convey information effectively, in small or large groups.
Proven ability to establish effective working relationships with communities.
Strong organizational (time management), and problem-solving skills to meet deadlines and prioritize multiple tasks as directed by Federal contract.
Effective communication and networking skills.
Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.

Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Education or another related field required
Experience:
Bilingual/proficiency in Spanish preferred
Licensure:
