The scope of the IT GEMS contract includes a full range of information technology (IT) services which include necessary hardware, software, and ancillary, components to support enterprise-level programs and environments. Support service areas include program management support, policy, procedures, and operations support, IT core services support, security compliance, customer and client services support, transformational IT support, and application migration support

HOW a Virtualization Lead WILL MAKE AN IMPACT:
Leads the Virtualization Administration team and oversees and manages various aspects of virtualization and infrastructure operations to ensure efficient and effective IT services delivery using our ITIL-based ITSM4Gov approach. Responsible for architecting an industry -standard virtualization layer that includes multiple domain types, including compute, storage, network, operating system, high availability, fault tolerance, disaster recovery, and management.
Collaborates with our Transformational IT team to develop and implement a VDI plan to upgrade or replace the current VDI solution with one that is cloud-based and ensures scalability, centralized management, and support for a mobile workforce. Oversees the daily operations and maintenance of shared services virtualization servers and infrastructure, ensuring availability of virtual infrastructures in both on-premises and cloud environments. Designs and implements a chargeback program to accurately allocate resource costs to different departments based on their resource utilization.
Collaborates with the Cybersecurity team on RMF Assessment & Authorization for virtualization hosts. Provides expert guidance on the use of virtual machines (VMs) and creates and maintains SOPs, TTPs, and KBAs for virtualization administration. Collaborates with the Training Manager on training users on virtualization, specifically applications and OS fundamentals. Supports the Incident and Problem Management team in resolving virtual environment issues and problems, providing Tier II support 24/7/365 for problem identification, diagnosis, and resolution in the virtual environment.
Actively monitors virtualization systems and storage, addressing or escalating issues to prevent service disruptions. Collaborates with the Patch Management team to establish and maintain a patching cycle for all virtual systems, evaluating all patches before installation to ensure system stability and security. Analyzes system performance, optimizes parameters, and collaborates with our DevSecOps and Transformational IT teams on automation solutions to ensure effective resource utilization as part of our CSI2 program.

Experience supervising a team with 7 or more team members
Education :
5-8 years of experience, BA/BS degree or equivalent years of experience
Required Technical Skills :
IAT II
CompTIA Security+ VMWare Certified Professional (VCP) or equivalent.

The likely salary range for this position is $120,000 - $180,000. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
