ABOUT THE ROLE
The Vice President of Commercial Real Estate Geography will oversee the execution of geospatial strategy for CoStar Group’s CRE products and marketplaces. You will lead a team of GIS analysts and engineers to ensure we have the most up to date GIS data embedded into our products. The team will work closely with the broader Geography team to ensure we are constantly validating and updating data and information related to markets and submarkets.
KEY OUTCOMES
Develop and deliver complete, accurate maps within assigned regions
Develop and clarify definition of various types of US geography (including neighborhoods, cities, regions, customer clusters, and parks, including physical shape, size and population, for CoStar’s marketplaces
Collaborate with Creative and Product teams to identify and define GIS intersection with key product features, tying creative and product goals to GIS data
Create data collection process to measure and present unique and valuable property attributes including topographical elements, local tree cover, altitude and slope
Provide GIS support for SEO and SEM initiatives through location data, geo-naming analysis and spatial analytics
Develop a feedback loop to continuously test, validate and evolve GIS models
Create management plan tied to measurable goals and timelines, monitor team and individual performance
RESPONSIBILITIES
Identify proper structure for a team of A players to support the project – including head count, roles, and job descriptions.
Hire and onboard teams
Develop and manage day-to-day operations, including team and individual performance targets and timelines.
Define operational metrics to measure individual performance and team pacing.
Set clear, identifiable parameters that define the work needed for GIS team to identify shapes and create accurate maps.
Create and manage operational plan to create initial maps with shapes, and then refine and revise definitions and shapes moving forward.
Partner with senior business leaders on operational plans and business practices that support multiple teams, including GIS and content functions.
Manage the on-going spatial data maintenance and dissemination, end-user support and the generation of maps and other GIS reports and information product.
Oversee the compiling and organizing GIS data from maps, databases and other.
Lead the collection and conversion of mapping resources and data.
Conduct programmatic and manual analysis and create reports and thematic maps on the data within the GIS.
Ensure that quality assurance on new or revised data conforms to standards laid out in the GeoDatabase, or any other applicable standard or policy.
Oversee the conversion, import and export data in and out of the GIS system.
Direct the preparation of regular status reports, highlighting GIS issues requiring attention.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
10+ years in a leadership role
Minimum 5+ years of direct management and responsibility for a team of GIS analysts
10+ years’ experience and knowledge of GIS databases and editing using software such as ArcGIS and MapInfo
Bachelor’s degree required in geography; Masters strongly preferred
