(HATCI) is actively searching for an innovative and strategic Engineering Department Manager to join our team at the Superior Township, MI facility. In this role, you will work collaboratively with the Director to lead and enhance our engineering department within the R&D sector. The focus of the department is on spearheading innovation projects related to vehicle drive and motion control software function and feature development for the current and next generation Hyundai, Kia, and Genesis production models.Core ResponsibilitiesCollaborate with the Director to establish department goals and objectives aligned with the group's strategic direction. Develop short and long-term operational and growth plans for the engineering department.Effectively manage engineering managers and staffs across multiple project units. Build necessary engineering capabilities for the successful execution of development projects.Oversee the allocation and usage of department resources and budget. Assign engineering projects to individual units, evaluate their performance, and implement improvements.Drive the initiation of new engineering projects and oversee their execution. Proactively engage with teams to ensure successful project outcomes.Supervise program progress and deliver executive presentations on key development milestones and achievements.Participate in the group's resource planning, goal setting, and technology roadmap development.Facilitate inter-team collaboration and knowledge sharing through transparent and prompt communication.Maintain existing partnerships and cultivate new collaborations with external project partners, including universities, national labs, and tech suppliers. Introduce new technologies and methods to production development.Stay current with emerging technologies and competitive products to drive innovation. Provide deep-dive technical support for pre- and post-production issues.Foster and maintain a positive, collaborative, and innovative work environment within the engineering department.Initiate and drive engineering projects related to:Modification/improvement of existing vehicle drive and motion (propulsion and chassis) control functionsDevelopment of new vehicle control features aligned with the company's SDV and FOD strategy to meet the evolving needs of North American market customersPrototyping and integrating new vehicle control software for embedded vehicle software architecture, connected car and Over-the-Air (OTA) platforms to enhance the vehicle's capabilities for adaptation, personalization, and customizationApplication of functional safety principles to newly developed vehicle control features, ensuring the highest safety and quality standardsCreation of proof of concept for developed functions/contents and formulation of production proposals for application to ongoing and future production programsConducting virtual and physical tests and validations of new functions to ensure optimal performance and safety standardsInvolvement in global vehicle software architecture and platform development activities to contribute to the overall advancement of our technologiesBenchmarking competitor systems to stay informed about industry technology trends and continuous analysis of industry trends to ensure our product offerings remain at the forefront of technological advancementsTravel both domestically and internationally (up to 20%)
