About the Role:
The Value and Access (Patient Access & Pricing) Manager is expected to integrate in the healthcare system and collaborate with all stakeholders directly touching the patient journey, gaining a deep understanding of their needs, and leverage Novartis capabilities to co-create meaningful solutions.
In support of patients achieving longer, more sustainable duration of treatment and improved treatment outcomes in a self-pay environment, this person will also lead monitoring and evaluation of all patient access programs within the Novartis Innovative Medicine organization.
The Value and Access (Patient Access & Pricing) Manager is also expected to lead teams co-create solutions understanding the barriers across the patient journey.
This role is also expected to support close documentation and facilitation of local and global approval of business cases supporting brands. The manager is also expected to work closely with internal and external stakeholders to anticipate business impact of internal and external price regulation, oversee the country pricing governance system, and provide strategic insights to brands and franchises across Novartis for any items related to pricing, policy, and pricing governance.
The Value and Access (Patient Access & Pricing) Manager partners with internal stakeholders to co-create on business development and strategies relating to pricing, affordability, and in measuring impact of proposals / approved business cases aimed at encouraging broader, more sustainable use of Novartis medicines.
This role reports directly into Head, Value & Access & Public Affairs.
Key Responsibilities:
Pricing Strategies and Operations
• Understand and connect current market trends nationally and locally in terms of legislation, HC organization, funding systems, decision makers and decision-making processes and the relationship between political and operational system.
• Establish and maintain key internal/external partnerships with key clients by understanding their needs regarding respective marketplace/issue.
• Lead evaluation and approval of access and pricing-related business plans developed within the Novartis organization by making sure the strategies meet the access principles vis-a-vis the business franchise priorities
• Ensure our pricing strategy and value messages are aligned with the four pillars of value that we see our drugs delivering: 1) Clinical value: the medical outcomes these drugs achieve, 2) Patient value, such as quality of life benefits, 3) Health System value: such as avoiding other costs, and 4) Societal value: such as improved productivity.
Strategy Formulation and Implementation
• Understand the interrelationship between indications and products for pricing & market access; Identify distinct payer and influencer segments and translate product evidence into tailored value propositions and message flow per payer segment considering legal and regulatory constraints
• Master the application of state-of-the art methodologies for pricing strategy determination and their relevance for the Philippines amongst which analysis & execution of health economic (HE) evaluations and comparative effectiveness analyses
• Apply the Optimizing Brand Value operating model to translate payer insights and country input into evidence based Global Pricing & Market Access strategy formulation.
Patient Access
• Work as a trusted partner and the key point of contact between stakeholders and Novartis, prioritizing and securing resources, and driving solutions that deliver optimal Access solutions; Collaborating with stakeholders (internal & external) to mitigate barriers across the patient journey and unlock possibilities to deliver value for patients
• Based on the generated insights from stakeholders' perspective work on refining and optimizing the pricing strategies in collaboration with the commercial teams;
Support Novartis products through their lifecycle and supporting their appropriate use, sharing their clinical value proposition with HCPs

Role Requirements
Essential Requirements:
• University degree in business, Management, Economics, or Public Health. Advanced degrees in the areas of public health, business management, health economics a plus
• Market Access / Strategic Pricing experience of at least 3-5 years; Proven track record in Value and Access strategy formulation and implementation
• Has experience developing concepts and proposal to actual execution
• In depth knowledge of the Pharma value chain and environment, healthcare services and communications field; Knowledge in data management & analysis
• Advanced competencies in using MS Excel, and other software that supports development of business cases
• Excellent interpersonal communication and influencing skills; Excellent negotiation ability; Independent and innovative orientation
• Strong analytical skills; Strong understanding of healthcare environment.
