About the Cross-College Department of Psychology
The Cross-College Department of Psychology was restructured in 2021 to become a preeminent unit recognized for excellence in advancing knowledge of psychological science. The combined department spans The College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) and Cornell Human Ecology (CHE) and consists of over 40 faculty, close to 100 graduate students, plus 35 from other Graduate Fields minoring in Cognitive Science. There are approximately 500 undergraduate majors in Psychology, Human Development, and Cognitive Science, 60 minors in Cognitive Science, and 25 minors in Moral Psychology. In addition, approximately 60 undergraduate students graduate with a minor in Psychology and 40 with a minor in Human Development each year.
Within the Department of Psychology, the interdisciplinary Cognitive Science Program supports connections to psychology, computer science, linguistics, human, development, philosophy, neurobiology, information science, mathematics, computational vision, and computational linguistics. The Moral Psychology Program is also interdisciplinary and is a minor that draws students with diverse majors and interests who share a strong curiosity and concern about humankind, and a motivation to apply both humanistic and scientific lenses to age-old questions about human behavior.
The Opportunity
The Undergraduate Program Assistant is a crucial position providing comprehensive support to all department undergraduate programs. The responsibilities encompass diverse tasks, ranging from facilitating student and faculty support to ensuring the successful fulfillment of degree requirements. This role involves course management support, the development and upkeep of marketing materials related to programs, and event planning and execution.
This position plays a critical role in supporting faculty, staff, and students across our four undergraduate degree programs: Psychology, Human Development, Cognitive Science, and Moral Psychology. The incumbent works closely with the Undergraduate Program Coordinator (UPC), the Program Manager for Cognitive Science and Moral Psychology (PM), and the Administrative Manager (AM). There is regular interaction with faculty, students, prospective students, and college and university staff to address inquiries regarding requirements, policies, and procedures.
Key Responsibilities
Program Support: Provide critical support to faculty and students across undergraduate degree programs: Psychology, Human Development, Cognitive Science, and Moral Psychology. Responsibilities are focused on ensuring accurate course listings and providing accurate degree requirement information, and assisting with necessary steps toward successful completion of degree programs.Administrative Duties: Manage course-related administrative tasks and procedures. Create and maintain marketing materials for programs. Plan and facilitate events related to undergraduate programs.Team Collaboration: Work closely with the Undergraduate Program Coordinator (UPC), Program Manager for Cognitive Science and Moral Psychology (PM), Administrative Manager (AM), departmental staff, and other college and university administrative offices.Policy Unification: Support ongoing post-merger unification of procedures across colleges and in all degree programs.Communication and Interaction: Engage in regular interaction with faculty, students, prospective students, departmental staff, and college and university administrative offices. Address inquiries regarding program requirements, policies, and procedures.Collaborative Matrix System: Collaborate within the matrixed organizational system for seamless enrollment services.
This is a full-time (39 hours/week) endowed position that is based in Ithaca, New York. This position will be fully on-site for the first six-months; after this period, the position can be performed remotely up to two days a week assuming flexibility for coverage as needed. This schedule is subject to change at any time. Work hours are 8 a.m.- 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. There is an expectation this position will work during commencement weekend and potentially other events that may be scheduled outside of regular business hours.

Bachelor's degree and with one to two years of relevant experience and proficiency with Cornell systems, i.e., PeopleSoft, CCI, ACALOG, Data.Arts, 25Live, Workday, and Salesforce.Demonstrated experience with marketing content and presentation and proficiency in web maintenance programs (e.g., Drupal, HTML).Knowledge and/or experience dealing with students in crises and the ability and knowledge to direct them appropriately.A cover letter and resume are required for further consideration for this position.

This is a forward-facing position and, as such, working full-time on campus is preferred. However, there are tasks that can be done remotely, so after six months on site, this position will be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement up to two days per week remotely and three days per week on site.
