About This Role:
The Kansas State Salina campus is seeking an experienced UAS LaboratoryTechnologist to serve as the lead mechanical technician and UAS pilotfor the Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) degree program, the fastestgrowing area of academic study on the campus. The K-State UAS fleet is comprised of many different types of small UAS,from simple foam airframes to various multirotors to advanced compositeVTOL-Hybrid systems. First and foremost, through this position, you willhave the opportunity to maintain and repair all types of UAS in thefleet, managed through advanced online systems for ease of use andtracking. Functional Check Flights (FCFs) are also an integral part ofthe maintenance and repair process, along with the possibility ofserving in various crew-roles for regular UAS flights. You wouldresearch and integrate new technologies onto the fleet, record andupdate inventory, and of course troubleshoot problems as they arise.There are also research opportunities with existing projects, as well asoutreach functions including lab tours, student technical support, andUAS club advising. This position also includes instructionalresponsibilities as needed, and range from helping with short-coursesfor a few days to developing and/or delivering content for full catalogcourses.

Minimum Qualifications:
Requires an associate degree, one year of relevant experience and aFAA Part 107 remote pilot-in-command (RPIC) certification. Thisposition may use an educational equivalency as determined relevantby a hiring managerPreferred Qualifications:
Bachelor\'s Degree preferredFAA Airframe & Power Plant (A&P) CertificationKnowledge of ITAR and EAR (export controls)Ability to work from engineering prints, schematics and parts listFamiliarity with advanced composite fabrication and repair, smallgas engine maintenance, general electronic systems troubleshooting,classroom and lab technical experienceStrong background in multi-rotor and fixed-wing RC or UAS flightoperations preferred with extensive experience in building,maintaining, and modifying these systemsOther Requirements:
Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States atthe time of employment.
Occasional travel required.
Must be physically able to use standard electronic lab equipment andmanipulate UAS lab equipment as required, including the ability to lift50 pounds.
