We have an exciting opportunity for a Tropical Oils Trader in Salisbury, MD. This position will be responsible for conducting commercial trading activities associated with palm and other vegetable oils.
Principal and Essential Duties & Responsibilities
With minimal supervision, trade palm oil and vegetable oil blends and maximize the profitability of trading activities
Prospect and develop new palm oil customers and visit accounts throughout the year
Analyze market information impacting vegetable oil markets including supply and demand reports, stock reports, etc
Collaborate with the supply planning team and external stakeholders to ensure the efficient flow of oils to the refinery and ex-tank customers
Be aware of accounts receivable issues and assist in collecting money as needed
Perform hedging activities to support customer sales. Ensure hedges are done properly, maintain margins, and minimize risks to Perdue
Service customers in areas of market information, contract balances, logistics, and accounting issues
Stay informed of logistics including tank car utilization, lease car rates, truck and rail freight rates, fuel surcharge and the impact on refined oil margins
Interaction, support, and coordination with Operations, Accounting, Soy Processing and Transportation groups
Perform ad hoc reporting and other tasks as needed
Minimum Education
BS Degree (Agriculture, Business, Management)Experience Requirements
2 - 4 years of trading/merchandising experience
Prior palm oil trading experience is strongly preferred
Strong math, communication, analytical and problem-solving skills
Working knowledge of cash commodity trading and CBOT
Sales knowledge and negotiation skills
Strong working knowledge of and proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint
Environmental Factors and Physical Requirements
Normal climate-controlled office environment. Able to communicate on the telephone. Able to use standard office equipment. Able to move freely throughout the AgriBusiness facilities including climbing vertical heights (0 - 150'), exposure to extreme temperatures (0-100 Degrees Fahrenheit), humidity, (0 - 100%), noise (50db to 100db), and chemicals (MSDS sheets available). You are required to travel to remote AgriBusiness facilities and customer locations.
