This position provides effective legal representation, either personally or by retaining and supervising outside counsel that handles moderately complex litigation involving either the corporation and/or its insured within established corporate guidelines and the applicable code of professional responsibility. Personally handles or manages litigation of a most complex nature involving either the corporation and/or its insured within established corporate guidelines, applicable standards of good faith.
Compensation Minimum:$109,000 / year
Compensation Maximum:$186,000 / year
Compensation may vary based on the job level and your geographic work location.
Primary Accountabilities
•Handles litigation involving either the corporation and/or its insured within established corporate guidelines and the applicable code of professional responsibility.
•Analyzes file as litigation progresses. Evaluates cases and seeks settlement as necessary.
•Conducts discovery (e.g. written interrogatories, requests for production of documents, and depositions).
•Conducts motion practice.
•Drafts all necessary pleadings, papers and briefs to advance litigation. Conducts necessary research in support of drafting activities.
•Advocates client position in all forums (state and federal court, alternative dispute resolution, administrative tribunals and regulatory hearings) and circumstances, both formal and informal.
•Stays current on state statutes and court decisions and analyzes how statutes and court decisions affect the interpretation and enforceability of the various policy provisions. •May have or develop areas of specialty practice (e.g. special property, workers` compensation, environmental law, commercial coverage).
Specialized Knowledge & Skills Requirements
•Demonstrated experience providing customer-driven solutions, support or service
Demonstrated experience preparing civil pleadings, motions and discovery and deposing witnesses.
•Demonstrated litigation experience.
•Solid knowledge and understanding of rules of Professional Responsibility for the jurisdiction in which they practice.
•Solid knowledge and understanding of tort, contract, and insurance law.
