The Treatment Plant Operator II performs the full range of duties asassigned. Employees at this level receive only receive occasionalinstruction or assistance as new or unusual situations arise, and arefully aware of the operating procedures and policies of the work unit.Essential Duties and Responsibilities Performs assigned treatment plantrounds; inspects, monitors, troubleshoots, performance tests anddocuments plant processes by reading plant equipment gauges, dials,graphs, online analyzers, computer screens, meters, SCADA systems andother instrumentation Operates and adjusts treatment plant pumps,motors, feeders and other equipment to maintain appropriate plantoperations Maintains, compiles, and updates plant operations logs andreports; performs and records mathematical calculations related to plantoperational activities Mixes and adds treatment chemicals; installs andreplaces chlorine cylinder tanks; ensures adequate chemical applicationaccording to regulations and guidelines Installs, maintains, repairs,modifies, troubleshoots, and services plant operations machinery andequipment including pumps, valves, motors, meters, tanks, reservoirs,feeders, and online analyzers; changes lubrications Collects anddocuments liquid and solid samples and performs a variety of routinewater quality laboratory tests; works closely with the laboratory ontesting processes; monitors laboratory results; collects water samplesas required by regulatory agencies Performs general plant facilitymaintenance such as cleaning, painting and repairing plant facilities;performs various grounds maintenance duties as required Operates avariety of heavy equipment including backhoes, loaders, scrapers,forklifts, dump trucks, truck-mounted sludge/compost mixers, and tractortrailer combinations; assists in unloading chemicals as necessaryComplies with all OSHA and ASUS safety standards and practices as theypertain to equipment, facility operations and chemical handlingCoordinates construction, maintenance, material selection, and repairactivities with maintenance, laboratory, contractors, vendors and otherstaff As assigned, participates in a variety of special projects such asconstruction of piping, electrical, and structural systems related toassigned work area Participates in the development of goals andprocedures for water or wastewater treatment activities; gathers andanalyzes data; develops a variety of reports Works with a variety ofvendors, outside contractors and the general public on water orwastewater activities; answers questions and resolves conflicts Performsrelated duties as required May require after hour work due to 24-houroperation Available for emergency response, 24-hours/day, sevendays/week Performs other duties as assigned
