About Traveling Heavy Equipment Mechanic

  Aerotek, voted Best of Staffing, is hiring diesel mechanics to work with a well respected company with a starting pay of $32/hour and a max of $45/hour for more experienced mechanics. This position offers per diem . Client pays very generously with competitive pay rates in the market. The position is based out of Odessa, TX . Ideal candidates would be looking for a long term opportunity and to grow with a company, learn a variety of trades, and willing to be a part of an exciting team. Ideally, candidates would have at least three years experience working as a diesel mechanic. You must have 3500/3600 diesel engine experience to be considered for this opportunity.

  Top Skills' Details:

  -Mechanic experience

  -Heavy Equipment experience (CAT preferred)

  3500 and 3600 engine experience required (do not apply if you do not have this experience)-Hydraulics

  -Transmission repair

  Description:

  Technician is responsible for the diagnosis, repair, reconditioning, overhaul and maintenance of customer and company engine components in a manner that reflects the company’s vision of working as “One Professional Team.”

  *Mostly CAT equipment, some Komatsu equipment

  • Uses safe working practices and follows all company safety requirements

  • Communicates effectively to ensure all repairs are completed correctly and timely

  • Diagnoses, repairs, overhauls, tunes, and performs maintenance on Caterpillar diesel and gas engines, generators, air compressors, and related equipment

  • Performs work accurately within estimate

  • Assists with scheduled Top End or Complete engine overhauls

  • Assists with engine removal/installation before and after shop overhauls

  • Performs startup of newly installed engines

  • Makes parts replacement decisions based on reusability guidelines

  • Effectively communicates recommendations for repairs both warrantable and non-warrantable

  • Promotes additional work and services to the customers as needed

  • Uses Caterpillar Electronic Technician (ET) and Service Information System (SIS) to diagnose and repair equipment with minimal supervision

  • Understands Caterpillar electronic engine control systems and properly troubleshoot and repair these systems

  • Uses of Caterpillar’s Service Information System (SIS), Technical Marketing Information (TMI), Dealer Business Systems (DBS), and Microsoft Outlook

  • Prepares and completes all related inspection forms for repairs, maintenance, warranty, and startup documents for new equipment

  • Keeps and maintains all information in an orderly fashion while on a job, and utilizes current processes and forms to retain and track information

  • Turns in parts credits, core credits, fluid samples, and receives signed documents for warranty parts and core returns from proper warehouse personnel

  • Other duties as assigned by manager

  Work Environment

  -Service shop environment

  -7:30am-7:30pm shift

  -Preferred schedule is 10 on and 4 off. Plenty of OT available and days worked can be negotiated if they don't want 4 off.

  -Project likely as long as they are able to work. Also perm opportunity if they work beyond 6 months and want to relocate.
