DescriptionSTV currently has an opening for our west coast office locations for aTraction PowerSystem Engineerin ourRail Systems group which is part of theTransportation and Infrastructure division in the Centers of Excellence.
Traction Power Engineer -Activities involve the design, for tractionelectrification projects.
Responsibilities:
Work as member of team to develop electrical designs for tractionelectrification systems from concept through construction administration.
Manage multiple projects internally with different project teams.
Generating and help ensure designs are in compliant with the companies'principles of design for manufacturing, assembly, and systems integration.
Coordinating design efforts with; and learning from architecture,engineering, manufacturing, systems, and construction teams.
Coordinate and collaborate with the other regional systems team to develop andmaintain standards across all STV projects.
Works with engineering design group on the development of modelling tasks.
Perform detailed modelling of electrical systems which interface with otherdesign disciplines which may including piping, ducting, and equipment.
Coordinate with other disciplines in a collaborative 3D constructionenvironment.
Required Skills:
Supports the semi-complex planning of detailed product development objectives.
Participates in the preparation of semi-complex sketches, design layouts,and other specifications.
Provides support in semi-complex review of results to determine that productsperform in the intended manner.
Participates and provides technical assistance on design feasibility.
Assists in standardizing semi-complex materials, components and assemblies.
Participates in maintaining detailed and comprehensive records of allinventive ideas, designs, and basic improvements.
Provides support in documenting product issues for future reference andproblem resolution.
Strong communication skills and ability to work with others, includingmultidisciplinary staff in different offices.
Traction power experience include but not necessarily limited to the followingelements Electrical House, AC Medium Voltage Switchgear, Transformers,Rectifiers, DC Switchgear, overhead contact systems, electric chargertechnology for mass transit. This includes AC and DC single line diagrams,metering and relaying schemes, substation equipment layout, conduit andcable layout, equipment installation detail drawings, grounding gridlayout, power distribution and lighting system design.
Experience with DC traction power system load flow studies and the developmentof traction power system designs based on load flow study results.
Knowledge of commercial AC power system analysis software (load flow,short circuit, relay coordination, grounding grid design).
Knowledge of DC traction power system load flow analysis software is a plus.
Proficiency in AutoCAD or Mic oStation platform.
Experience with BIM and Navisworks.
Project management and monitoring of project budgets.
Knowledge of project proposal preparation is a plus.
Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
