Optional add-on benefits include: Dental, Vision, Optional Life Insurance, Voluntary ADD Insurance, Dependent Health Life insurance, Health Dependent care flexible spending accounts, etc. Additionally, certain designated positions are eligible for hazardous duty pay, career ladder advancements, and free meals while on duty.GENERAL DESCRIPTIONPerforms highly complex (senior-level) work involving coordination and the direct performance of activities associated with designing, installing, troubleshooting, repairing, monitoring and optimizing to achieve high performance of network, mobile, and application hardware in the agencys Central Office, district offices, secure correctional facilities, halfway houses, and data centers. Collaborates with information technology teams located at the agencys secure correctional facilities and in the agencys Central Office.Works under limited supervision, with considerable latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. May be required to work in excess of 40 hours per workweek, be on-call, and travel.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSInstalls, configures, maintains, and administers servers, operating systems, and applications. C rries out backup and recovery functions, software patching, and monitors the performance of servers regularly. (20%)Determines operational, technical, and system requirements for the location, installation, operation, and maintenance of data processing, data communication, system software, and server hardware. Analyzes, troubleshoots, and resolves system hardware, software, and networking issues; and provides status reports to management. (30%)Manages federation, authentication, and access control systems for applications, servers, and third-party providers through Active Directory. (10%)Studies existing information processing systems to evaluate effectiveness, and develops new systems to improve production or workflow as required. Recommends to management systems technology solutions and enterprise-related hardware and software standards. (10%)Monitors the interface of systems, subsystems, and software applications. Evaluates and recommends action on testing and securing of system software and hardware upgrades. Coordinates, plans, schedules the installation of or training for new or revised systems, and defines business process requirements. (10%)Researches, develops, and documents operating procedures for technical support, troubleshooting, maintenance, and innovative systems administration techniques. (5%)Configures and executes automation routines using scripting and other programming languages. (5%)Completes server and other infrastructure related projects and performs systems software and hardware reviews. (5%)Reports any presence or perception of racial, ethnic, and/or gender disparities.Performs a variety of related duties not listed, to be determined and assigned as needed.Performs all duties in compliance with agency safety policies and procedures:Reports safety hazards and corrects hazards when possible.Completes required documentation in the event of an accident/injury within requested time frames.Attends work on a regular and predictable schedule in accordance with agency attendance and leave policies.Qualifications: MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSBachelors degree. Four years of full-time wage earning experience supporting a LAN or WAN; an IP communication environment; troubleshooting network problems; and installing and maintaining network related equipment and servers.ORHigh School Diploma or equivalent. Six years of full-time wage earning experience supporting a LAN or WAN; an IP communication environment; troubleshooting network problems; and installing and maintaining network related equipment and servers.Preferred:Bachelors degree in information technology, computer sciences, computer engineering or other related field.Certifications in Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP), Microsoft Certified Solutions Developer (MCSD), Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE), Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate (MCSA), or other related certification.Experience configuring and managing virtual environmentsExperience using PowerShellTwo years of IT customer service experience.Experience and Education Substitutions:One year of appropriate experience may substitute for one year of college (30 course hours) on a year for year basis.Completed course hours of undergraduate study may substitute for up to four years of experience on a basis of 30 course hours for one year of experience.Completed course hours of graduate study may substitute for up to two years of experience on a basis of 12 graduate course hours for one year of experien
