Position Summary Under the direction of theSupervisor, the Tissue Recovery Specialist (TRS) is responsible for thesurgical recovery and acquisition of tissue from donors from referringagencies. Responsibilities Surgical recovery of tissue from donors inhospital operating rooms, Medical Examiner/Coroner offices, and funeralhomes. Acquires donated birth tissues for transplant and researchfollowing Versiti Organ and Tissue procedures and protocols. Coordinatesmaintenance and cleaning of instruments and equipment to ensureappropriate quality assurance standards are met. Maintains inventory ofsupplies essential for recovery and acquisition of tissue. Establishesand maintains positive working relationships with hospital, MedicalExaminer/Coroner, and funeral home staff to maximize donationopportunities and promote organ and tissue donation awareness. Mayprecept new TRS staff in conjunction with primary preceptor. Coordinatesand/or participates in various donation related communityactivities/events as assigned. Maintains competence through attendanceat mandatory and other job-related educational opportunities. Activelyparticipates in Lean and continuous improvement activities.
