Job Description
The Budgets & Accounting Department Head reports to the Associate Director for Finance and Administration. This position serves as the fiscal officer for the agency and is responsible for the accounts payable, accounts receivable, budgeting, general accounting and financial reporting for the agency.
Responsibilities:-Directly supervise day-to-day activities of 2 team leaders and responsible for total staff of 10. Assist with their training, professional development and evaluate their performance.-Prepare or oversee the preparation of all fiscal reports, to include: legislative appropriations request, annual financial report, annual operating budget and other financial reports required by the State, System, or agency management.-Perform financial analyses and prepare ad-hoc reports.-Assist agency leadership and staff with resolution of fiscal-related problems.-Oversee and direct the activities related to the accounts payable, accounts receivable, budgeting, general accounting and financial reporting.-Represent TAMFS in various System and State meetings, work groups, training sessions, etc.-Coordinate completion of all required accounting and reporting related to emergency response incidents.
-Perform cash management activities of agency for both state and local funds.
-Review financial records and initial corrections as needed.-Other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:Required Education: Bachelors degree in Business Administration.
Preferred Education: Major in Accounting.Required Experience: Minimum of five (5) years experience in responsible accounting position with a minimum of three (3) years supervisory experience. Experience in one or more of the following: accounts receivable, accounts payable, general accounting, budgeting, financial reporting. Preferred Experience: Experience in a fiscal office operation at a Texas A&M University System institution.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:Required Knowledge: Microsoft Word and Excel.
Preferred Knowledge: Governmental accounting. FAMIS and USAS systems.
Required Skills: Sound judgement. Strong analytical and interpersonal skills.Required Abilities: Work independently. Multi-task and work cooperatively with others.
Registrations, Certifications, and Licenses:Required: Valid Texas Drivers license.
Preferred: CPA
