Serves as technical liaison with manufacturing, quality assurance, test, and other engineering disciplines. Provides engineering support and review of engineering drawings, engineering analyses, test plans, and fabrication and assembly procedures. This relates to gas generators, inflation systems, pressurization systems, and guidance systems.Major Position ResponsibilitiesPerforms work that involves conventional types of company designs, investigations, analyses, or hardware, for which there are company precedents to the solution.Assignments will generally include one or more of the following: cognizance of hardware design, analysis, test, or manufacture, preparation of plans and specifications, trade-off study, development problem investigations, report preparation, presentations, proposal write-ups, and other activities of limited scope requiring knowledge of principles and techniques commonly employed in the specific area of assignments.Independently evaluates, selects, and applies standard engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria, using judgment in making minor adaptations and modifications for the solution to specific engineering problems. Assignments have clear and specified objectives and require the investigation of a limited number of variables.Works closely with the other functional organizations to establish priorities and expedite the design, manufacture and test of company products.Prepares detailed development; qualification and production plans for end-items, devices, components, modules, subsystems and systems under the direction and approval of supervisor. Assists in assuring plans are carried out. Provides changes as necessary and determines revised approaches when needed. Other duties as assigned.Supports project engineer by providing primary technical liaison with other engineering disciplines, manufacturing, inspection, procurement, and test to assure proper development support of the fundamental engineering.Performs trade studies, parametric analyses, and system modeling under the close direction of the project engineer or project engineer.Independently utilizes test data to calculate performance of end-items being evaluated. Effectively troubleshoots the data to remove instrumentation anomalies, data sensing difficulties, and test deviations.Recognizes discrepancies in analysis, hardware, or test results, prepares error analyses, and independently takes corrective action.Conducts formal investigation of failures of parts. Contributes to component, end item or system level failure investigations.Independently analyzes engineering problems involving standard application of one or more of the following: fluid flow, heat transfer, stress, dynamics, thermodynamics, thermo-chemical analyses.Supports the project engineer or project team leader as required in coordinating and directing the overall technical program by preparing EWRs, memoranda and reports that identify customer and program requirements and goals and that provide specific technical detail and direction to accomplish these goals.Coordinates the review and approval of engineering drawings and design layouts.Prepares write-ups for analysis reports, test reports, progress reports, letters and proposals (including ECPs).
