About Senior Business Planner

As a Senior Business Planner for New Commerce Commercial Strategy (NCCS), you will have the opportunity to execute and lead strategic initiatives related to how our customers buy from Microsoft. This will require you to understand the purchasing and contracting process and work across teams to identify and prioritize initiatives to evolve and optimize these experiences. Our team is focused on designing and implementing a “New Commerce” experience to replace the legacy contracting process that has been in market for many years. In this role, you’ll lead execution for how we deliver contract and term strategy to our customers and partners, including the Microsoft Customer Agreement (MCA) and the Microsoft Partner Agreement (MPA). This includes managing go-to-market initiatives related to contracts including improving the experience for customers and partners, identifying issues and blockers, and handling escalations and in-market issues across our volume licensing agreements.

Microsoft’s Business Planning organization directs our commercial portfolio’s pricing, packaging, licensing, channel, and monetization strategies. Few organizations exist that have such a direct impact on how Microsoft goes to market, which reverberates across the entire industry. Within Business Planning, the New Commerce and Commercial Strategy organization works across Azure, Microsoft 365 (M365) and Dynamics 365 driving cross-cloud monetization strategies for how and where customers buy. This includes defining the strategy for Microsoft’s commerce experiences, channel business models, product licensing and use rights, and support as well as driving growth through audience specific offers and experiences.

Microsoft’s mission is to empower every person and every organization on the planet to achieve more. As employees we come together with a growth mindset, innovate to empower others, and collaborate to realize our shared goals. Each day we build on our values of respect, integrity, and accountability to create a culture of inclusion where everyone can thrive at work and beyond.

Responsibilities

Support and execute broad contracting strategic initiatives contributing to requirements, understanding end to end execution and making recommendations for changes.

Analyze customer and partner licensing landscapes to identify business gaps and legal risks, developing business cases for updates and gathering requirements.

Capture and champion customer contracting pain points to inform and remove blockers that may be inhibiting adoption of the MCA.

Partner with business planners, field, and legal teams to review requests to contract and policy changes including representing the team in a council that reviews such requests.

Develop deep understanding across a complex licensing portfolio to become a trusted advisor for stakeholders across the company.
