Technical Production Manager for the Black Box Theatre

The Technical Production Manager (TPM) is crucial in creating a positive image and supporting the mission and vision of both the Black Box Theatre and Edmonds College. The college is committed to diversity, equity, inclusion, and student success. The Black Box Theatre is a 175-seat performance venue, producing a multitude of varied public events every year. The TPM supervises, plans, and coordinates staffing, design, and technical aspects of projects under the artistic leadership of the Black Box Theatre Director. The position provides event planning support and event supervision to clients, maintaining superior customer service and professional quality production values.
The TPM will work closely with event programmers from the campus community to help develop, manage, and execute all types (lectures, dance, film, music, theatrical) of events and performances. The individual must work well with guest artists, staff, students, alumni, and faculty. The position will supervise 2-4 technicians, students and volunteers on a per need basis. The individual will work to ensure the quality of the Black Box's technical systems by addressing lighting, sound, and other technical issues. The position requires flexible evening and weekend hours related to Black Box events and the College's quarterly academic schedules; hours per week are flexible and variable, minimum of 40 hours per week over the course of an academic quarter. This is a full-time, administrative exempt position, reporting to the Director of the Black Box Theatre.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Envision, collaborate, and advise on events produced in the Black Box Theatre with the Director and campus facilitators.
Create, implement and oversee a production schedule ensuring that all deadlines are met by guiding event coordinators and clients through the production process (design planning, construction, rehearsal prep, stage management, load-in, tech, run of show, and strike.)
Provide event stage management for the Black Box by determining the necessary technical support such as lighting, sound, staging, and special needs.
Operate, maintain, and safeguard the technical assets of the theater, including supervising the use of lighting, sound, and communications equipment.
Monitor the condition of equipment including lighting, sound, and rigging equipment; arrange for the repair and replacement within budgetary constraints; perform preventive maintenance on equipment.
