Summary About the Position: The U.S. Military Academy, West Point, NY is an academic institution located in the Hudson River Valley, 50 miles from New York City. The historic site is the oldest continuously occupied military post in America. West Point is a self-contained city with housing, a Department of Public Works, libraries, hospital, fire department, chapels, and restaurants. Employees have access to Eisenhower Hall Theater, Hudson Valley's performing arts center, and recreational facilities. Responsibilities Serves as the Managing Editor (ME) of the West Point Press under the direction of the Deputy Director. Responsible for all technical aspects of the Press’ publication operations. Communicates with authors on Press leadership, reviewer, and Editorial Board feedback. Prepares material for publication, including, when necessary, extensive initial editing. Participates in all facets of the publication process, from concept through distribution. Serves as a Contract Officer Representative (COR) for Press projects as needed. Coordinates with contractors and other Press personnel for graphic design of all Press publications. This position may be filled as a Term appointment NTE 13 months, if the candidate is not a current permanent Army employee. Term appointments may be extended up to a maximum of eight years. This position is not eligible for regular and recurring telework. This position is eligible for situational telework only, including emergency and OPM prescribed "unscheduled telework". Situational telework is approved on a case-by-case basis, where the hours worked were not part of a previously approved, ongoing, and regular telework schedule.
